ETS or SU TMIC?

Its not just getting the tube on that's a b****, the angle of the aftermarket IC doesn't meet up with the tube properly. You'll want to have someone help you when it comes time to connect the IC with the rear tube.

yea i am doing the install with with my father in law who is a mechanic . it will be fun i am sure. lol. i am just very anxious waiting for my turbo inlet to come so i can install it all at once...i hate having parts sitting in my garage waiting to be installed lol..it drives me nutz

You might find it helpful to put the hot pipe hose on the intercooler first, then lower it down and fight with it to get on the turbo...then look at how kinked and messed up the whole thing is, fight with it some more, and then when its finally all on there, about 90-95% on both ends, and clamped to high hell...hope it holds, and enjoy the intercooler.

Please contact SU by email or another method to let them know that the SU boost tube and stock boost tube on the hot pipe is unacceptable fitment, and they should work on a solution so we don't have to battle a tube that doesn't fit right even when its on.

lol sounds like i have a lot of work a head of me..lol can't wait tho!! yea i have to see it for myself before i go and call su.

The SU one doesn't suck ass. Bottom line is both will perform the same. The SU one is clearly better built and looks much better. If the extra 50 bucks is worth that . . . then get the SU.

Lots of people complaining about the fitment of the hot tubes on the SU TMIC. Its the same issue on the ETS. Friend of mine has the ETS 3.25 and its the same size / has the same issue with the boost tubes.

yes i agree with coyfish 100% the su one is better built and a lot of people on the forums are having complaints of both intercoolers. dont just jump and say su sucks with no real proof

Even though I'm unhappy with the rear boost tube fitment on the SU, I'm overall happy with the intercooler! It works great, and makes a noticeable difference...also looks really snazy.

Like coyfish said, the fitment issues with the rear tube is also encountered by the ETS users. I too, am totally happy with my SU TMIC. I believe that SU originally intended their boost tubes were for use on the stock IC, but I could be wrong.

So they're both the same in terms of their performance?

Also... what's the deal with everyone keeping the black plastic casing off? Does it no longer fit with the new TMIC or are they simply looking to show off the new goods? I could care less about that and actually prefer the look of the 'stock' engine bay.

You can get the TMIC powdercoated (or Anodized) black

The stock cover wont fit over the new TMIC. Well it might "fit" but the hood wont close :). If you want to keep the stock look then don't open the hood :).

My bad. I guess when I read of all the fitment issues with the SU TMIC, I assumed that wasn't the case with the ETS. Pretty bad of both companies if you ask me. Why couldn't they just build them so that they easily replace the stocker? doesn't seem like would be all that difficult to me. I'm now having second thoughts. I figured this would be something even I could install. If it's going to be a PITA though... I may need to figure out how much a shop would charge before I drop $600+ on my car.

The good news is... we're still a couple months away from the brutal hot summer months so it's not imperative that I or anyone else rush to get one. (at least, not as much as it would be if we were in the middle of July) Granted... this is based on where you live of course.

The ETS rocks, I have that, you can't use the stock cover but wont need that since it comes with the shroud that seals up against the hood rubber gasket to make a seal

well chico on may 2nd and 3rd there is this mazda meet at orange county choppers. i plan on being there on saturday only so if you wanna check out the su tmic and boost tubes first hand just look for me. its not a bad drive to Newburg, NY from you. just jump on 84 lol. so far there are almost 100 registered Mazda's coming and its a month away!

Hmm... I may have to check that out. As for this shroud thing... I thought they both came with them. Is there ANY reason to get the ETS over the SU? I was literally about to place an order for the SU TMIC now so...

well i have never seen the ets in person. but i know for a fact that the su one is put together nicely and for only a few 35 more bucks..the shroud on the su one is a polished one and the intercooler looks much nicer in person that the ets one looks like in pictures...its up to you which one you buy. i figured for 35 more dollars i can go with a product that looks like it should be worth 600 lol

Its not really the companies fault. When you order your TMIC you will see why. The stocker is like 1/3 the size of the upgraded TMIC. The boost tubes are "universal" meaning they fit stock / aftermarket which is why they dont have perfect fitment. They should offer seperate boost tube sets to fix this problem.
