Estimate price? (car accident)

Well, almost 100% of the time, if the person hits you in the rear when you are doing something that is not illegal, the other person is at fault. Take me for example, I avoided another car and hit this guy in the rear. That other car took off so I was at fault because I hit the rear of this guy. Got a speeding ticket on top of that too!!! WTF!!!

are you ok? no matter what accidents occurs, most important thing is not to get hurt.:)
I just hope my police reports says it's their fault or insurance adjuster admits its her insurer's fault.
Otherwise I 'm in deep trouble not having insurance. (but they don't know that=shame on me.)

Well....now that I know you don't have insurance, I see why you're not reporting it. Here in California, no insurance is a big no no. It's a citation and sometimes an impound. I had to go to court to show proof of insurance because my insurance card was not in the car with me. IF I didn't have proof, it would have been a big fine. I don't know how it is in Illinois.

Oh, and thanks. I'm fine. The air bags didn't even deploy and I didn't have skid marks.

"From the look of the damage, you must have been speeding," said the Policeassman. Maybe he should have also noticed that I hit a truck that was 2 feet higher than mine! Of course the damage would be bad!

I'm not reporting it??? both of us went down to police station and file up the police reports.
I called his insurance co. to get my car fixed. But they have to determine who's fault it is first.
that's why I'm waiting for the copy of original police reports( it takes 7~10days)
I didn't give him a my insurance info, because I thought it wasn't my fault and it is not my fault. :)
all the nice guys and girls out there, please prey for me.

We will pray for you. I hope everything works out. In life, we live an learn.

Well, if it was one lane and not two, and you were turning right and he hit you from behind, it had to be his fault. If there was only one lane, he shouldn't have been trying to go around you. The most important thing to do is stick to your story. Don't let anyone try so say you were doing otherwise. And make sure you always bring up the point that it was a single lane you were in and not two lanes. In other words, he shouldn't have been going around you until you finished your turn.

But I will stick to the my point.

It really makes no difference if he actually hit the back end...or if he hit the rear side and traveled forward up the side of your car.....the point is...HE WAS BEHIND YOU AND HIT YOU. here, its called "FAILURE TO CONTROL SPEED/DISTANCE".....no matter what....there is NO EXCUSE for hitting anyone from the rear....in other words....no matter what the road conditions.....IF the driver in front of you should decide to just slam on their brakes and come to a complete stop dead in front of you....YOU should ALWAYS have enough space in between you and them to stop....ALWAYS....and if you don't? its YOUR FAULT for following too close.....so even if you didn't signal to turn....and just started to slow down and turn....if he didn't control his car and hit you.....its his fault...

NOW...with that all said......get yourself some insurance. I would be willing to bet you its the law there.....I know here you can't renew your licence plates...or get the car safety inspected without current/valid proof of insurance.

Thank you sirNUKE!!!! these days I'm trying to gather all the infos I need to say to their insurance adjuster.
their insurance Body shop didn't ask me for the proof of insurance but my copy of police reports ..I have to fill out insurance information. :(
anyway , I was looking for firm and strong statement, so I can confront adjuster.
BTW, I like your description 'FAILURE TO CONTROL SPEED/DISTANCE'!!! Thank you~~~~

Just for info, was there a left turn lane or not, and was there any approach to the road from the left side near the intersection. In either case, it would be possible for him to try and change lanes or pull around you, and rub along the edge of your car. Did the damage to his car happen on the from corner, or near the rear?

And just for future info, i have found that the best/highest price is for replacement with original factory parts. That is all you should except. Then, once you get the money, you can start looking for the cheapest price and method of fixing it.

Also, I don't know about your state, but I believe in Montana, the insurance company could tell you were to get your car fixed. It was your choice.

Geico asked me several different body shops and I went one of them today. and quoted about 2500 usd.
I believe even though there was only one lane, there were cars trying to take left turn. I also think he could possibly try and change lanes or pull around me. his car have damages on left front fenders. my damages was right rear fenders to front right fenders.
since, other guy is still saying it's not his fault, my 2 options will be hiring an attorney or expect good results on police reports.

Don't worry about hiring an attorney until they actually state that it was your fault. I'd trust the police reports for right now. There is pretty much no way he can say it wasn't his fault. The only wiggle room he has is to say that you didn't signal. But wether you did or didn't, ALWAYS say you did. He has no way of proving that you didn't.

Very good point my friend;) maybe you guys can be my personal attorneys? how about that? lol
I feel much better now...

The only way I know a lot about accidents is because I've been in 5 of them. Only one was my fault though. I guess I'm just unlucky.
