erratic idle...new to here!

Today my 02 protege started sounding like it was not firing on all cylinders. I unplugged the MAF sensor and now it runs good again but the check engine light came on. Is it the MAF sensor? I need help

i have a ebay intake..so i went and bought a can of MAF cleaner and cleaned the sensor really well and my car is now running well, better in fact than before the idle problems. The engine light turned itself off. best $10 spent yet on the car. thanks guys
