Epoxyed my motor mount.

OK so the stock mount allows for a lot of engine movement, no suprise here because if anyone we're to drive the CX-7 for a day, they would be able to feel the engine moving around.

Also, what was very alarming for me is that my mount had STRESS tears!
Not good!(nailbyt)

After.. (I'm clearly not an artist)

Now for impressions, it vibes at stoplights(not bad) and while idling in reverse(awful vibing), but it's all good, I hope it does soften after a while.

Manual mode has improved quite a bit, engine braking is more effective, and 1st gear isn't as jerky as before, higher gears like 3-6 feel stronger, and response has improved greatly, even higher in the rev range it feels better.

If anyone wants a how-to, ask!

I've considered this but have also wondered if the aftermarket mount for the Speed6/Speed3 would work.

Apparently they don't, at least that's what I'm told, the MS6 mount looks the closest.

Getting different epoxy could help with the vibes, because the stuff I got is some strong hard stuff.
4500PSI, -60F to 300F, bonds metals, fills metal cracks, seals welded seams.

I took it out for a ride, I'm still digging it, besides the really bad reverse vibrating.

The way you describe how the car feels after the engine mount mod is almost sounding like my diesel suv/truck, except for the reverse part.

I am not knocking ANY of you who "mod" your vehicle... but I just must confess that I "don't get it". Is the stock manifestation of this vehicle so bad that people feel compelled to "fix" what the design engineers deemed appropriate...?

I *never* noticed my engine "moving around" in there - it's just not on my radar as something I'd pay attention to.

I get in my car, put it in drive, step on the gas and it takes me where I want to go... usually with quite a bit of 'pep' too.

I just couldn't imagine popping the hood, removing the motor and motor mounts, modifying them with epoxy to stiffen them, putting it all back together... just to stiffen-up the engine a bit...?

Again... I am NOT judging any of you who change, upgrade, update, tune, mod or otherwise "improve" your vehicles... just pointing-out my own inability to grasp the desire to do so. :)

If you look at the picture, it's impossible for it not to, the holes allow torque to be absorbed, in return you get less vibrations, that's why the designed the mount they way they did.

You won't pay attention to it if you don't drive aggressively, I can feel the engine bucking on the highway when I lift off the gas(from WOT mind you).

And the fact that the mount had visible tears in it is very alarming, meaning the rubber is too soft and cannot stand up to the amount of power being put through it, the epoxy helps that quite a bit.

In manual mode, immediately lifting off the gas and depressing it again in first gear no longer causes the engine to buck in the cabin like it used to.

It improves driveability for those who don't care about vibrations, on the MS3 it reduces wheel hop, and for my CX-7 throttle response is more direct, in aggressive driving the engine no longer moves as much, things are much more smoother/torquey.

Shows how much engine movement occurs, if you're looking for maximum performance this is something you want reduced to a minimum.

You don't need to pop the hood, either. :)

Hey MAZOOM, then I guess this mod is out for me as 90% of my driving is between 1 and 4th gear in the city in stop and go traffic and speeds of less than 60 km/h (36 mph). My poor baby rarely gets to stretch her legs.

That trick is actually fairly common amongst the nissan guys, except they use a polyurathane type of injection but the same concept.

That mount looks pretty weak. I would worry about snapping the mount from the added stiffness and vibrations.

Is there any give to the epoxy you used or is it pretty solid? I would have used something alittle more forgiving if it is solid. Window weld is also pretty popular to fill engine/trans mounts with.

Still sounds like someone could make a billet solid mount for you and make it absolutely solid...

Not a mode most would want. But if you are going to regularly push yours this hard it might be a good mod.
