Engine Swap

Yeah i've been thinking the KL-ZE 2.5 motor may fit in the protege pretty easily. Then you can get a Thomas Knight twin turbo kit. This will cost a lot of money though...lol

Is the 20B the TT rotary, out of the rx7 ?

NO.

The 20B was used in the Cosmo and maybe some other Japanese/Australian vehicle. I believe it was also used in some Mazda racing cars.

The 20B is a 3-rotor TT engine. The engine in the RX-7 is the 13B which is a 2-rotor TT engine (in last gen RX-7). I think the 13B has also been available in non-turbo on previous gen RX-7.

is this possible could we swap our engines to an mazda 6 one ?? or something like that any suggestions?? (huh)

Have you taken a look at the one from the Mazda 6? All you need to do it take one quick look and that will answer your question.:D (HINT: the answer begins with the letter N and ends with the letter O). :D

Same goes with most other motors. The only realistic idea is the FS-ZE, and unless you fork out the money for the ECU it will not do you very much good.

To fit the ECU from teh FS-ZE into yoru protege you will need a complete front clip not just the ECU. You will ahve to convert your entire wiring system to accomidate teh ECU and swap to OBD I and you will not pass a OBD II scan, emmisions or visual inspection.

Yeppers! IIRC you woudn't pass CA emissions, you can only swap to newer moters/emissions equipment for their inspections. Just leave the FS-DE in there, for the money you'd spend doing a decent swap you could turbo and beef up the internals and such.
