2003 Mazda protege 5 (2.0L auto with trip tonic...)
Hey guys.... So here's the story.. I have my hands on a Mazda 6GT motor .. Was curious if this motor would fit in a 2003 protege5.... It only had 76,000 Kms on it...!! Any info or insight would help out.. Thanks

What engine? What year? What trans? AWD? FWD?

If you're talking about one of the new (2013, 2014) engines, they are so sophisticated that you would have to swap all the electronics as well, including the gauge cluster. And even then there are a lot of loose ends regarding body, HVAC, and other controls that are tied together with the ECM.

A KL or MSP swap is a little easier since the motor mounts are similar, and the transmissions are the same.

If money is no object, sure - any swap is possible. Now if you don't want to spend xx,xxx thousands of dollars there's no way.

Not a lot of swaps exist for the BJ platform. Some have had luck with the KL series engines, however wiring and custom mounts have to be taken in to consideration. The fact that you have an auto makes the swap even more difficult. As the previous poster mentioned, dropping in a turbo kit is generally the best way to turn up the power on the proteges. However, then you run into the issue of determining when you need to go forged.

Thx guys.... I'm not looking to spend a crap load... Appreciate the info....
