engine problems..any others?

i, the 2nd person at my dealership(Hilliard "Rip off" Mazda of Ft Worth) is working on my car right now because one of the rods is not doing it job correctly and is making an awful noise. It is the 2nd one to go there tho so i was all freaked out that i was going to have to get a new engine only after owning the car for a year and a day. but lucky for me this problem has been discoverd and i am currently waiting for a new engine to be put in by hopefully next week and Mazda is paying for it all....Lucky for me cause i had racked up a good amount of miles already(26800). would like to hear if anyone else has heard of any similar problems

Is it the wrist pin that was causing the ticking? I've heard of someone else with that problem.

WTF? Has anyone else had this happen? I am scared now, I have 29,000 miles on my mp3 and dont want it to blow up? How loud is the ticking noise????

:wtf: That really sucks the big one.I only have 11k on my car but and reallt havent had any problems with it. It makes me happy that I got the extented warranty when I purchased it.I love my car and everytime I get in it to go out I love it more and more. Its good that mazda is replacing your motor. Is it a new "crate" motor or are they just rebuilding it??I would deffinitly say I want a new"crate" motor, or tell them you want the mazdaspeed turbo motor installed, that would be really nice.

I have 45000 miles on mine, and a smoking turbo. Which should be fixed before Christmas. No problems here.

nah just got the car back today, was surprised it only took them a whole week to get a crate engine in and put it in already. i was really surprised. but heres whut the deal is, found #3 and #1 rod bearings to have spun, engine assembly and transferred all parts, installed new thermostat, filled w/coolant and oil and filter, also had brake resivior low and damn my brakes are bad....supposedly 40% left on them and only got 26720 on the car and looking to get some new brakes already...or at least just brake pads for the time being and then hopefully ill get some big brake assembly kit or something, but yeah i was lookin on the screen where you tell them to pick up ur car and the price on the engine alone was like 4872 or somewhere close to just over 4800 for it....surprised they only charged 877 for labor but lucky for me....all covered and walked out w/a smile on my face. the knocking noise wasnt that loud at all until you got on the gas a little....it really sucked cause i had to limp it back from downtown ft worth and then i really couldnt get it over 2500 rpm at all otherwise it would start making the noise, but it wasnt noticeable loudly until bout 3000 rpm, so best of luck to you guys out there. hope you dont have any problems with ur cars.
