cookim6, leverage does interesting things when it comes to mounts. most of the them are low, definately lower than most areas where a stiffy might attach. because of this low mounting relative to the tall engine, the leverage they see from the engine rocking is pretty high. it takes quite a bit of stiffness in a mount set to equal what a moderate setting on a stiffy can provide, and the downside is mounts can't be adjusted to 'soft' for regular cruising. the ingalls stiffy has a very broad range of adjustment, so you can in essence give your car the feeling of very high durometer mounts, which will yield very impressive launching and shifting, or back it down and enjoy stock vibe-free driving.
the stiffy is no joke. it isn't anything like what else is out there by weapon r, or NRG, or any of those 'knock-off' companies.
torque dampers, real ones, like the ingalls stiffy, can do wonders for powerful FF, esp one as powerful as this thing. i used one on my honda and it was incredible...and i had high duro inserts for all of my relevent torque mounts. also helped with shifting on that car, but that is because it was a linkage actuated trans.
i have been pressing ingalls a bit to develop one, but they are reluctant because the one they developed for the SRT4 did not sell well at all, whereas the honda/acura units have sold like crack. they also are pretty busy developing other apps that they feel are less 'niche'.
i will keep applying the pressure, albeit lightly ; )
if you feel like you want to put your word in about the subject, and urge them to develop it, send an email to adamm AT ingallseng.com
