Engine clicks at idle

I never had this problem in my previous cars, but I noticed a clicking noise when the engine is idle. I've checked the oil, and that is fine. It doesn't sound like the type of clicking after you blow your motor, it's more subtle. Does anyone have this? Is it normal?

And also when I'm in traffic at low speeds, I hear a squeking noise coming from what I believe is the trasmission because it's only when I'm in gear. The noise is definitely related to something that is rotating.

I would like to know so I can go to the dealer first if it is a problem before I start installing some things I bought. Any help is much appreciated.

sounds like just the valve train clicking as this car has a noisy valve train. as far as the squeak while in gear i have no clue....

Most of what you are hearing is the operation of the fuel injectors. The design of the Mazda direct injection system lends itself to being noisy. There is nothing wrong with your car.

Are you sure the squeaking noise isn't your clutch pedal? My MS6 does that from time to time.

Krnboy - the timing chain on the MS3/MS6 (all MZR motors?) is actually lubricated by engine oil - spraying anything on it would be a very bad idea.

i hear the same sqeaking, if u leave it in first gear at around 2k rpm and tap the gas u can hear it sqeak when u tap the gas...the clutch isnt even engaged..i duno ive asked this b4 and the dealer said "cant duplicate the noise" next time im gona drive the service guy around in my car

try putting some anti slip spray for the timing belt? or chain to be precise.

If the timing chain is "slipping", you are going to have VERY serious issues... (lol)
