Hi all -
I am installing a set of LED DRL's into the panel above the fog lights on my CX5 Sport in Aus.
I have mounted them an they work fine with constant 12v but I cannot find a suitable switched accessory or 12v engine run connection point ( the second switched state on the keyless start is accessory ? - where all the lights are on before starting the car ).
Basically my Cx5 doesnt have factory DRL functionality, but I wish to find the wiring and switching.
I investigated the fuse box in the engine bay extensively ( I am an elec engineer ) and found some switched 12V locations but they cannot drive the current ( 1A needed for the LED's) - or even regular horn relays (250ma coil current ). There must be locations in the engine bay with a switched 12v near the fuse box. The fuse box in the engine bay just has constant 12v. Alernatively, can anyone suggest a 'DRL" controller that takes constant 12v and determines its own engine run state for DRL activation ?
i dont want to go a Solid State Relay path as I dont wish to load up connection points and prefer the find the higher current connection points in the engine bay - so I dont need to find something in the cabin and wire it back into the engine bay.
