EMS solutions for the MSP

still bumping to get the Microtech on that first page :D

The one thing it does that none of the others do... NO need for a laptop :)
I hear you...if I had money and a stronger engine I would have one installed and tuned right now. Local store has been trying to get me to install it...they have extensive experience with Microtech. Especially when Steve Kahn was in town to tune RX-7 at Titan motorsports...microtech was the choice.

yay for Microtech!

MICROTECH TUNNING IN ACTION!:

Rolo! 2 bar...the teg is going for 3 bar (30 psi) now. look Microtech in action tuned by Rolotech,,,lol:

More microtech in action...tune by rolo: Microtech LTX-8 (old version) 3 bar 553 whp, 385 lbs @ 25 psi

S13 Microtech LTX-8 : 488 rwhp @21 psi

Hell, lets throw in Motec since we know it works for Proteges.

thats why everyone wants autotune.... all you have to do is fix your timing to control detonation and smooth out the fuel

of course I am over simplifying it, but the general enthusiat has NO CLUE how to really tune well

32x32 = 1024. THat is a lot of data to edit if you are truning yourself.
Well, that's where bezier curves and interpolation tools come in. Emanage has a nice little tool where you highlight the cells that you want to interpolate and click one button to smooth the values out. Of course this is just a way to speed up general curves. Bezier is still the ideal solution. If any of you use Maya, imagine the Graph Editor...

I didn't find the resolution of the Microtech lacking at all when I tuned it. It was nice that it only had as many points as it does... and there are enough of them... but it's something funky like a 18x12 map or something LOL.

How accurate is an 80mm MAF? I know that it will still go from 0-5V, but is it precise enough to use a 32x32 (~0.156 volts) or 64x64 (~0.078 volts) map for tuning? I know that not all MAF sensors are the same, and I also know that not all are linear. The reason that I'm asking is because I'm a little concerned about using a 16x16 map for tuning a fuel curve.
Our MAF our custom calibrated for us. We have a 8x16 map and a 1x16 load scale. Keep in mind we are working off of stock maps not a standalone that needs to start from zero and control the whole thing.

328whp with only 15psi, sounds like it is working fine for me.

to be quite honest though MAFs are old school technology, MAP is the way to go with turbo setups..
You are way off on this. Most cars have MAF not MAP. MAP are the old school, they have not changed for over 20 years. The MAF are the only way to go when tuning a car.

On the N/A note, you guys should be mainly interested in timing control when considering different units. .
The stock afr sucks. You can always gain from getting control of both spark and fuel.

Maps and Mafs go both ways, that was just my opinion on the matter... and regarding the timing control notice i said MAINLY, there is very little room for improvement on the afr end of tuning, in fact id be willing to bet on a stock p5 you(using it here as a general term no specific) couldnt squeeze out more than 20hp by tuning afrs alone. The mazda maps aren't perfect, but they aren't msp horrid either. Not knocking you nick by the way, I've seen/participated in several FSDE N/A tunes with haltechs, SMTs, etc....and everybody always got the same results...maybe a gain of 7hp and 4lbs tq....well I think on one occassion the guys managed to get 13whp out of a SMT unit...So in the end yes you can gain from control of both spark and fuel, but the MAJOR part of the gain will be from timing on N/A applications.

You also need to update and add Microtech. It will be in full release pretty darn soon too!Steve

Still missing the Microtech on the first page....

Our LT8S unit is released... Until about July the price will be 1250 shipped to you. The only big drawback right now that we are working on is the lead time is about 4 weeks from the day you order until they day you have the unit. The custom configuration takes some time and we haven't been able to get it trimmed down further with microtech as of yet.

Thanks!

Black Magik msp hasnt been online for a while... its his thread he has to update it

No Biggee... I got a post update for someone else that then deleted their post... so I hopped on and tossed a new post up for bumpage in case he was around to update etc... No worries!

what are you doing to pull 400hp out of motor?

forged internals, pandp head, pandp intake manifold, pandp exhaust mani, radiused exhaust valve seats, Ferrea exhaust valves (swirl polished/backcut), 5 angle intake valves, two injector rails, Microtech EMS, JandS Safeguard System, Bosch individual Coil Packs, balanced rods/crank/etc, and a good solid 25+ psi of boost with intercooler etc.... about an $8K project.

ApocMan, says DA'AAAAMMMMMMMMM!!!! (wow)
THAT BE SOME MO'NAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(shocked)

nice Steve, it will be interesting to see who comes out with the most HP this summer with everyone doing crazy stuff

Yeah, it will be very cool to see all the numbers. I hope to have a dyno of it in less than 3 weeks :). Pro 5 and Dumb Keola will be close on my heels as well, we are all running about the same setup...

As far as the project cost.. yeah it got pricey.. I had originally hoped to do it for like 4k... but that didn't happen... but that is counting my block, new clutch, injector cleanings/blueprinting, all the parts, gaskets, machining, etc etc... I basically have been spending every last dime I have and tax returns and bonuses and everything for the last 6-7 months on this project... I live on like 0 money LOL... I love the car :) I have most of it chronicled in the thread "A Rebuild Story: Forged MP3".
