hey,

lets say i buy a unichip for my car, i got no one around here to tune it.. no speed shops are equipped for that.. we live in the stone age (yawn)

1-i assume unichip controls timming? so that be safer right?

2-anwyays, if i order one, and specify what mods i have on the car, can they( the seller) get me a good map in?

3-or am i better off with a SS AFC ?

note : i will have a wideband on BEFORE any EMS

i think the guy you want to talk to is JDM Sam over at crossover. He sells unichips and various maps for different setups.

the unichip does control timing, and if tuned correctly it will be safer.

stop laughing at arvida!! LOL

we got ONE speed shop worthy of calling it this.. and get this ..they even have a DYNO!!! woopidoooooo ;)

BUt, they do have something special.. there specialists in exaust manifold conception!

maybe i should cal them for a mani ;)

Haha, I had to google where it is. I think it's in Canada. I'm still not sure.

I will be going with the SS AFC v.3. That way, I will be able to control my AFR's and my timing. A lot of people like the Unichip, though.

yeah but if i would go with V3 with only 9 psi, it would be worthless.. i mean whats good to retard timming on 9 psi ?? (eekdance)

how?

you bought it with a mape tuned in without him seeing the car?

it says on their web sitew to use 93 octane fuel.. i dont have that here..

I shipped my Unichip to him and gave him a list of my mods. The tune is far superior to the stock Unichip tune and I cant even compare to the Mazda tune.

I have 94 octane gas available locally.

seems pretty simple. im going at 9 psi in spring.. what would retarding timing be good for at ONLY 9 psi?

at 14 psi i can undernstand..

Only 9psi you say...I blew my motor at 9.5psi with loads of timing retarded up top. Not only that, I had an extra injector and a freakin' J&S safeguard.

In your first post you mentioned timing, so I thought it was important to you. If you're not worried about timing, why not go with a SS AFC. That way, you can control your AFR's and you'll be set. It will be less money than a Unichip and you don't have to find an authorized Unichip tuner to tune it for you. Granted, you can have someone like JDM Sam to do it for you.

I'm just throwing out options. I will say having the option to retard timing, even at 9 psi, is a valuable thing to have.
