i gotta go get my car tested by the end of this month.

i have a speed 6 with a test pipe.

will i pass or should i go back to stock?

The readiness monitors also have to be set. This is to prevent you from just clearing any CEL's you might have in the parking lot of the emmissions place and then passing the test. there are 7 - 10 readiness monitors that report on a many diferent systems in the engine and emissions system. The monitors typically take five or more drive cycles.

Anyway, if you are clearing a CAT related CEL ocassionally, or using anythong other than an AP to mask the code, I would be very carefull about getting the emissions checked and only do it after you can verify that there are no stored CEL's and the readiness monitors are set. You can check the readiness monitors with a good CEL reader like the ones they have at most Autozone type places. That is what I did and it worked like a charm (no cat at all on my 8).

Not sure my explanation is as clear as it could be, but this is the best I could explain it. Ask if you have any questions.

I'm catless as well, plus I had a lean code. I had to buy a Cel reader and literally drive around for 2 weeks to get my sensors ready before I could go in. On my MSP turns out that one of the sensors resets at a certain gas level in the tank and I kept refueling before that had hit. Once I learned that I was good to go

Would it be ok to get the emissions test after resetting the ecu? Im uninstalling a CAI before I got in, and last week got a CEL after I got the filter wet while washing the car.

Yea I figured that statement might apply to my situation. I read in another thread it might take 150-200 miles for everything to be normal with the ecu, but your saying a few trips in the car should get it to where it needs to be. Thanks for the help, I gotta get tested by the end of the month.

Just drive it for a week or so, then test it yourself. Take it strait to the tresting center once you know you are good.

I drove my car arounf 130 miles after clearing the code in 2 drives, took it in and passed emissions with no problems.

First timer here, got a 2000 mazda protege LX - yep 12 years old. I'm in passing my emission test hell. Since I've had the car, every 4 years I have to shove out 500-700 dollars to get it fixed. Is there anyone out there that can give me some pointers. I still have the car because I do not want a car note.

Read this thread.

Then ask any questions you may have. Everything you need to know is here. No CEL + Set Readiness Monitors = Pass.
