Emergency parking brake issue 2022 CX-5

I'm having an issue when I use my Emergency Parking Brake. EPB. After I use my EPB and come back to use my car the remote does not work. I come back in the car and the infosystem is showing on the screen. The car seems hot inside and I think I am draining the battery. Maybe I' m crazy but I'm sure I didn't leave the car running while I was gone??? Also, My battery went completely dead a few weeks ago. Has anyone else had that problem? It is a 2022 CX5 carbon edition. It only happens when I use the EPB Thanks so much! Maybe I' m doing something wrong.

Electronic parking brake. EPB.

Sounds like the car wasn’t turned off properly, was left in accessory mode. Maybe the driver’s foot wasn’t on the brake when the start/stop button was pushed to turn the car off, or if it was, maybe the foot brake sensor isn’t working correctly.

Does this car have iStop? Speaking from experience with iStop, there are times when iStop activates when you are turning the car off and can lead to this situation if you’re not aware of it.

You don't need your foot on the brake to turn the car off, only to start it.
Why would iStop activate if the car is in park?

Did I mention being in park?

You ever driven a CX5 with iStop?

Why would you turn the car off without it being in PARK??

iStop can activate very quickly when the car stops. Before you get a chance to put it into park. It doesn’t know that you are about to turn the engine off.

You’d know that if you had experience with iStop.

Almost no one in the United States has used an i-Stop CX-5.

It's not something I had considered. I guess you need to learn to be light on the brakes before putting it in Park.

Hopefully we will not have to experience it. I've seen some examples recently and was not impressed.
