just wanted to say hi and test out my sig lol.

anyway i dont own a MS3 but friend might own one soon so im just here for research. I have NO hate for FWD sport compacts as I owned an SRT-4 for 2 years.

Hi, im the friend. I just joined up. I am going to ride over to my dealership tommorow. They have 7 new ms3's. I am going to take a test drive, and see what I think.

I have been reading up, looking for a decent turbo'ed sport compact. It seems this car is prob the best deal for what it costs and what you get.

I see there is tons of aftermarket support too which is a huge deal for me.

Any advice? How does this car respond to the basic bolt ons I will most likely begin with, such as intake, exhaust, wastegate, turing up boost safely, etc?

Also, how do insurance companies hit you with this car?

Thanks guys.

Me being 24 no real major car accidents other then a few speeding tickets, Geico quoted me at 700 bucks every 6 months. I don't think thats too bad considering what the car is and that it is brand new.

Welcome to the forum...Just so you know, some dealers are not allowing test drives on this car so be aware of that.THere is alot of support and after market stuff for this car now.As far as bolt-ons this car loves a new intake and tbe.A good start would be intake,TBE,motor mounts and a tune.Talk to your dealer and see if they are mod friendly or not...

Not to play who has the bigger dick but I ran 2 MS3's this year and won both from a Dig...

I can launch, they really cant. The 07/08 stock Z's run about a low to mid 13 stock. Its not just the dual throttle setup, its also because the engine pulls about 30 more HP than last DE model engine and has an increased redline of 500rpm with 80% new internals.

As for my SRT-4...thats a wholeee nother story. I had a stage 2 setup with a 100 shot of nitrous and many other goodies and boost turned way up, TBE, return line, etc.

But yea anyway...I love these MS3's and recomended them to Monkey, cuz the SRT-4 caliber is COMPLETE and utter JUNK.

Other than that the WRX is way overpriced and the GTI is way too slow.

I think that only leaves us with the new Cobalt Turbo which still looks like a cobalt so BLEH.

monkeywrench, what dealer are you going to? assuming you live in the same area as srt2z, you'd be pretty close to me (montgomery). i got mine from compass mazda in middletown. the people i dealt with over there were all decent, a lot better at least than the retards i dealt with at suresky dodge trying to test drive a new srt4.

350z was my other option and I love those cars. I can't wait for the 370 to come out and definitly will be trying to get one of those. Anyways ms3's can't be beat with the over all package. If your friend gets one he won't be disappointed.

My insurance runs $380/six months, but I'm a geezer compared ta most of ya. Don't know if it was this forum or another, but one poor soul was quoted $300/mo! Anyway, good luck in your shopping. You'll do better if you can shop multiple dealers. Prices are better when there is competition. DUH, really?! (sssh)

Ohh yea the dodge people in the hudson valley are mental.

He is going or went to Compass since thats just about the closest one to us. Hopefully they are a good dealer.

Only reason I bought my Z over a new STi was because Subaru is a joke to deal with. Newburgh nissan was amaizng.
