Electric valve wastegate

Does anyone make an electronically controlled waste gate? I want to be able to connect it to one of the accessory ports of a stand-alone ECU like the AEM and keep it open all the time in certain situations. For instance, I would like to have a program that is for daily commuting that will totally bypass my turbo to save on gas. I also think it would be a great way to control the boost accurately with out any spiking and without a separate boost controller.

...are you just talknig about a electronic boost controller??? if so....many companies....and many stand alone programs have a functions for controlling levels of boost...you would have to check into each one to see if there is an accessory or anything to have it control your boost levels....as for the AEM EMS...it acctually has a lot of boost features to set it to exactly how you like it.....as stated on their website...:
You don't need to buy a piggyback boost controller ever again! The one that is included with the EMS at no cost is state of the art. It can drive the factory or aftermarket boost solenoids and can work with all boost levels. It can run in open loop (MBC mode) or full feedback with a 357 point boost target table. Not enough? how about a cockpit boost target override switch or having the boost target defined by vehicle speed? The EMS can do it all.

Maybe he means a wastegate that is opened electronically, like with a little DC motor or solenoid. I think pretty much all wastegates are pressure/spring operated, no? So even if you have an electronic boost controller you can't just set it to 0 psi and have the wastegate open at that point. (I'm just guessing here)

ye, its all spring operated cant go lower then stock boost unless you change the spring, there is no electronic wastegate unless you get ebc so you can swich between high and low boost or by rpm based

jaman know's what I mean. Even if you have an EBC, the lowest boost that you can run is what your waste gate is rated at. I want to control the openning of the waste gate directly so that I can bypass the turbo completely for daily driving. I know someone will say "Well, just don't drive hard enough to let the turbo kick in," but it's not the same. I want to be able to step on it and use every ounce of the N/A engine if need be.

Another great feature of this would be super accurate control over the boost. EBC's work well, but still have lag when trying to avoid boost spike. I want a valve that takes the signal from a MAP sensor and adjusts the openning of the waste gate instantly to keep boost at a certain level.

You sound like you are worried about fuel consumption.

The Turbo only uses more fuel than N/A when you raise the boost above 0. When you are just cruising, the car is at 15 - 10 vac. The turbo isn't even doing anything until you open the throttle body to pass.
Don't worry. If you read Maximum Boost, Corkey Bell, he addressed this question early on.
