Has anyone had any problems with getting the S*%# shocked out of them  when they get out of the car and touch the door to close it? I thought it was just a random occurance...but now its every time I get out of the car...
I'm lookin for ideas of what it might be and what I might be able to do to stop it.
Thanks!

every f'n time i get outta the car i get zapped....i cant figure it out...i though it was because me and my mp3 had such chemistry
lol

It has a lot to do with the weather. I saw a report on it a while back on the weather channe. I tend to get shocked more when the weather is cooler. You can buy some stuff made by 3M that you spray on your seats, it's supposed to help cut back on getting shocked.

I have not givin it much thought but now that you mention it I have been getting shocked alot lately by my mp3

I Thought it was just me!!! i get zpped all the time i ask my physic teacher and he said that it is from friction.??? i dont know if he is full of s*** or what but maybe its from all the friction taking those corners so fast. hehehe!!!

Ahh yes. I love this time of year when everyone begins asking about this :). Yes, it is related to the cooler temps, but more closely to the drier air associated with the cool. You'll notice static shocks are prevalent all over the place when its dry.

So the solution is. Either buy one of those straps (which I think look dumb), or do this:

When you get out of your car, DON'T JUST SLIDE OUT AND PUT YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND. Just open the door, put your hand on the top of the door (the metallic part, where its black on the outside) and THEN put your feet on the ground. This way you ground yourself.

I agree with doomer, it's static discharge. I don't have that here in miami but every once in a while it happens. 3m makes a spray for that , i borrow it from a friend that works with computers and i sprayed on the seats and carpets. since i haven't noticed anymore.

Yeah, it happens to me both with my MP3 and with my '96 nissan frontier. It's the weather, not just the car.
