Eibach Springs... DIY or Professional Install?

Got my Springs yesterday and I was talking to my buddies and they have all installed their own springs (Honda Civic, 300ZX, 3000GT VR4). Well, my question is, how many people here have installed it themselves? How easy is it? Or do you think I would be better off doing it Professionally. I have all the tools/equipment on hand and my buddies will help me.

Professionally the lowest I could find was $292.50 Install + $65 allignment. They said 2 hrs front and 2 1/2hrs back.

Any input will be much appriciated.

ya you can def. do this yourself with a few buddies

if you can get hold of an air compressor you will knock the springs out in like 1.5-2 hours if you work and dont dick around.

I completely agree with you. I just didn't know if it's truely that difficult. My buds are pretty much gear heads so I trust them... when they are sober. But when we get together, beer is involved. That might not be good lol (friday)

Ok, then comes my next question... How long to settle before allignment?

Few days or a week?

a week i would say till there fully settled, it also depends on how much you drive too.

Make sure you get an alignment too.

Do the springs before you get drunk. Screwing around with highly compressed spring steel is not the best idea. Plus, you wouldn't necessarily want to drive your car afterward if you're messed up.

I drive 70 miles a day to a from work. I have everything on the way too. Highway, Back roads full of twists and turns, and then regular road full of hills.

I think a week should def be good then.

That's alot of driving I'd say 100miles is plenty long enough to get them to settle. 350miles is alot for good tires and a bad alignment.

Also for safety if your not using a compressor...with the car on the ground loosen the strut piston shaft bolt and raise the car up to decompress the spring and pull it out. Very easy and put the new spring in the same way.
You may need to pull the piston shaft out fully to get it aligned with the hole going back in.

We have a compressor but thank you for the input. I'll keep that in mind just incase something happens.

And yea, I understand 350 miles is a lot but I just wanted to make sure. So if I do it on Saturday, I'll get it done tuesday (sunday + driving to work monday).

I did mine with the help of a buddy also. It was the first time i ever did any type of Suspension work. I thought it was kinda easy to do also. Easy enough that when I change my shocks i'll do them myself. We also used a spring compressor on the fronts.

Do them yourself and save the cash. Good learning experience for you about your car. There should be a how-to floating around on the internet.

Well guys I did them today and I have to say it really wasn't that bad. The front was the worst cuz you had to compress the springs but that was about it. All in all I would say it was extremely easy. Took me and my buddy 4 hours total. And that was looking for a spring compressor for about an hour lol.

The car rides smooth so far. Just have to let it settle. Driving to and from work tomorrow will put 70 miles on them. I'll them them aligned on Tuesday

I'll post pics if I get a chance (before and after).

I just ordered my H&R springs today, we'll see if I can eat my words and do it myself too without issue.

The install (like I said) was pretty easy. But now I have an annoying noise when I hit a bump on my left side. Talked to my buddy who had an EVO and a 350Z and he said it will be like that for some time.

They'll be here tomorrow (Thursday). One thing I meant to ask, did you cut your bump stops in the rear or no?
