Eibach Lowering - Front vs. Back

i've read a lot of stuff about this, but i still don't know the correct answer. many people say that the eibach drop is greater in the rear than the front. this doesn't make sense to me both logically and because the Pro-kits for our cars claim a 1.2" drop in the front and 1.4" in the back. maybe older kits had a different drop? can anyone with eibachs tell me what's up? thanks

I think you have it backwards. The drop is 1.4 in the front and 1.2 in the back.
I just installed them yesterday, and I can't more pleased with them. I'll be taking pics this weekend, so check back in a couple days. Here' a pic of them installed though:

Hope this helps you.

IMO, it levels out the car. I don't see see what you are describing on mine.

MrFoggy - sorry, that's actually what i meant, but i have still heard people saying that it gives them a lower drop in the back. i'm thinking that they must have had them installed wrong or something. thanks though.

Mr foggy did u have to cut your bumpstops? I will be doing my drop today... I was going to a friend in Watsonville, but at the last minute a friend here in salinas is letting me use his driveway to do it all.. I just ask as I have heard you do not need to cut the bumpstops...

Congrats on your purchase! You are going to love them!
I did cut them, about 1" in the front, and 0.5" in the back. I did this to give the the struts more travel. I would assume you can leave them alone, though. But, I don't notice any negaitive side effects of cutting them.

I didn't cut the bumpstops at all. Rides like a Japanese Cadillac, and looks great!! :D

I did, however, order the MazdaSpeed non-adjustable struts from my dealer this week. I plan on swapping them out sometime soon... as I want better damping control. The OE KYB's aren't bad, but a little soft. $475 for the dampers was a boatload of cash though, I must admit! They damn well better perform as expected.

Edit: two things to note.

1. No way can you install the springs wrong. The fronts/backs are night&day different. Hard pressed to find a moron that couldn't tell the difference.

2. Also, my alignment was damn near dead on. This was after almost two weeks of "settle in time." The toe was out a bit, but not enough to cause any wear. Touched it up just a bit. Camber & caster are fine with these springs. Just an FYI for ya'll....... :D

Here's some pics of my drop. Full res shots here http://public.fotki.com/mackdaddy/eibach_prokit_drop/

So the P5 OE struts are KYB's, or are you talking about the MSP OE struts?

P5 OE's = KYB

My new OE MazdaSpeed struts on the way = Tokico (developed with Mazda, and Racing Beat.)

:D

Well all.. I got the Maxspeeds ( which are H and r's, they have been in my 2k2 maxima for 1 and 1/2 years on stock struts with no problems.. daily driven!!) in, and I must say damn!! Nice look and nice ride, rides near stock to me.. 1.3 drop... all around.. and the ride is smooth and no (clunks, thunks, bump) noise whatsoever! It kicks ass! I cant believe this is my ride... I did run into a problem... I needed to get a 3/8 to 1/2 inch socket adapter and my friend told me to use his ride... so he gave me the keys.... to his 2002 altima... So I went to autozone here locally, and like I do my ride made sure it was locked/windows up... I go in literally for 5 minutes get the part.. come back out.. and they stole his car!!
I was like WTF!? I walked around in a daze thinking man this better be a hidden camera joke time or something. There I was looking all around witht his keys and alarm fob, clicking it hoping It would beep.. nothin... It wasn't...
The car was gone.!! So here I roll up with the cop to his house to get the info on his ride.. and my friend is like what happened? I told him and he shook his head and told me not to worry.. that is what he had insurance for.. but still damn!! I was in disbelief and shock... He laughed at me and said I would look back one day and laugh my ass off like he was.. now he can go get the infiniti g35 he really wanted to get he said..

Holy s***!

Well....I'm glad that you weren't driving the P5.(uhm)

Damn! Stolen!

Stoked on the springs, though! Yeah Lopez! Yeah Foggy! I better get with the program...

Thanks Nate... but Damn I feel bad.. despite my friends laughing... it didnt help me from just wanting to go in a hole and die.. man I feel so damn bad... it isnt funny.

hey peeps how big are the eibach springs meaning when u open the box my s***'s look huge are they that huge looking

So do you need a camber correction kit to properly lower a P5? I'm not quite clear on that. Are there any long-term alignment issues?

Thanks!
