Hey guys/gals I have recently been having some pretty serious pinging problems. I recently did a seafoam treatment on the car and change spark plugs and wires which helped out the pinging alot. Ive been avoiding using 89 gas cause it just makes the rattle so much greater but recently been reading alot about the egr valve and was wondering if its a good idea to change it out or not? For some reason I do think its the problem but I thought that if i had a bad egr valve it would show a cel and if not I thought the seafoam would have cleaned out the egr valve when I put it through the vacuum line. Anyways let me know what you think.

How does your car idle? If it bounces around a lot (and sometimes almost stalls) that's a pretty good sign that you EGR is on its way out.

Thats the thing the car is idling really well, usually holding steady when at operating temp at like 500 rpm or so and stays pretty steady. Thats why im not really sure.

Hey yah actually i misread the guage ha, i meant about 800 rpm's with a deviation of about 50. SO im guessing the EGR is fine then if theres no rough idle? Then what could be some other possibilities as to the pinging?

I took a look at the egr and thinking about taking it out and cleaning it. I already swapped the cables just not sure if paying an extra $70 on coils will do anything to change the pinging, if its still doing it after the swaps in plugs and wires.
