Egr Pipe Help!!!!!

I'm sick of driving around with my check engine light on. I'm ready to install the resistor and capacitor on the o2 sensor. My only problem now is my blocked off egr pipe. I'm wondering if I can run my egr pipe into my downpipe rather than drill into my ceramic coated manifold. I'd like to avoid drilling/welding into my pretty manifold. Any answers/comments would be appreciated!

Just leave the EGR pipe open, thats what im doing and no CEL's. And dont waste you time with the

resistor/capacitor cel fix, just get an 02 simulator.

With the EGR pipe open, don't you get an exhaust leak?

From what I saw, the o2 simulator is like $50. I'd rather wire in some $1.00 resistors. Is there an advantage to the o2 simulator?
