alright i have a ? 4 ya guys and i'm hoping that you will be able to help me out here. i live in Des Moines, Iowa. the ONE mazdaspeed dealership in this state will NOT re-flash my ECU because they say that it doesn't need it. i know for a fact that it does bcuz it drives like crap without it. does anyone know of a different dealer in the Iowa vicinity that would be able to take care of that for me. i already plan on road tripping somewhere. any help would be appreciated. thanks guys! (drive)

tried that...didn't work...i even printed out the directions for them to fix my car with and they still didn't do it. they told me if i really wanted it done to take it somewhere else but "it has all the current files" or some crap like that

Unfortunately, I've found that it really depends on the dealership.... I live in Seattle and all 3 mazda dealers that I called here were totally clueless when I told them I wanted the latest ECU flash. They all just said, "your car should already be programmed with the latest ECU flashes." Which, to me, was the same as them saying, "I have no frickin clue what the hell you're talking about."

But one week, I had to drive down to Portland (Oregon) for work and my hotel was near the Mazda dealer there... and these guys were all over it. They knew exactly what I wanted and they even had another MSP getting the flash when I was there. I just got my ECU flashed before heading back home.

You just gotta call around and find one that knows. Since our cars are so rare, a lot of these guys at the service departments know nothing about the MSPs... how sad.

It takes all of five minutes to do. I think I was in and out within a 20 minutes when I took mine in for a flash. Getting a little over 20 more miles to the tank with more "spirited driving" than before the flash. Mazda should have your back on this. Try calling again. There's a reason why there's a TSB on this.

i'll call again...i'm definately going to have to take it outta town...i know that much. with my experiences with my local dealer....i'll take it outta town for anything. i don't want them touchin my car again. an oil change took then a day to do. (killit)
