so this re-flash thing is just for the mazdaspeed proteges, correct?

Correct, just for the mazdaspeed to fix the hesitation/stumbling issues.

yay!!

i was awake at 7am this morning cuz i've been having trouble sleeping lately. but anyway, i was awake and couldn't go back to sleep so i figured, why not just go to my mazda dealer. i went to irvine mazda but there weren't any mazdaspeed techs working today, so blah.
i drove to another nearby dealer to see if they would work on my car, but they said that they weren't going to flash my car becuz they told me that the way my car is acting is/was natural. so i was fed up and left.
i was checking my cell phone and noticed that there was a saved mazda number for the tustin dealership. they had probs d/ling the software but i thought i'd give it a chance since i had 1.5 hours to kill before work.
i called them up and they told me they got the software working and to stop by cuz they weren't busy. i went in and didn't even have to wait. they flashed my ecu right on the spot. i was soooo happy so i called 2 of my friends. ^_^
while patiently waiting for my car to be finished i was watching blues clues. man, the new guy sucks...

oh, i forgot to mention that the car is sooo much smoother now and i did feel a difference. turboboostmazda actually came down while my car was being serviced to bring his in too. he drove it and was amazed. ^_^

btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRENT!!

The main question for me is if you can run 12 psi or higher with the reflash without knock. Some people are running 12 psi with the reflash, but it's hard to tell if they are detonating or not.

don't know about the fuel cut thingy, but as far as running at 12psi i wouldn't. turboboostmazda already told me it's better just to stick with 8-9psi right now. whoever is running 12psi is asking for it. also, someone mentioned that running 9psi feelsl ike 12psi before the flash so...

hows does the reflash affect the fuel cutoff?

It shouldn't affect it at all. If i remember right your running 12 psi spiking 14 right? If you go that high with the reflash there is no doubt your gonna get knock.

yeah thats what i figured...but i still get the fuel cut @ 10psi when its cold...but I'm back to 9.5 anyway. just asked for future reference. thanks.

AARRGGHHH, does anyone know of a service place in SoCal that is open today? I cant wait until next week.....gotta have it now!

so your saying that I can get the reflash and still run 9psi, now I have joep fpr should I just take that out if I get this?

The dealer I went to (Valley Mazda in SLO) was cool about giving me the re-flash..I just showed them that email from boostisgood, and they took it from there. They didn't run my Vin, or say the car was fine and didn't need it. The service manager said he test drove a MSP and noticed the hesitation...so he hoped this would fix the problems...and it did!! Runs better than before when I was upping the boost. It should haul even more ass when I get my mbc back in..but only a little extra boost, as detonation will be more likely at higher PSI. And just because you can't hear it, doesn't mean its not there....

All this talk about flashing makes me want to get a trenchcoat!

Wonder if they would still flash me ECU even though my haltech is hooked up? lol maybe i'll just do a quick re-wire back to stock and take it in for fun.

oy I am getting mine done on Monday with Redmption. I cant wait. I will turn down my boost, and hope all goes well.

ECU

Guys, Is this flash for Mazda speed only? I have a 03 Protg 5 that has problems when idling (almost stalling out). Anyone know anything about it?
