I have a new set of slotted and cross drilled rotors. I don't care about brake dust. I also don't want my rotors to get chewed up. Which should I go with? I'm hard on my brakes.
I've heard that hawks eat rotors and im pretty ******* hard on my brakes...which is why im leaning toward yellow stuff since its a kevlar pad and easier on rotors from what i have been told.
edit: completely open to suggestions though...im not ordering till wednesday. btw in the next 4-5 weeks i will be putting down 300+ whp, so fade isnt an option
They make different kinds, I put Hawk HP plus on my old Cobra and they were great just dusty and noisy when hot. Just put Hawk HPS on my Bullitt and they are excellent pads quiet and absolutely no fade on a 3500 lb. Mustang. I run Bendix ceramic pads on my MSP and have for about 30k miles and they are excellent pads, quiet and have a lot of bite. I run stock rotors and haven't noticed any damage or excessive wear on them.
i have ceramic pads and blank rotors on now and i tore the rotors to s***, ill know how bad the pads are when i take them off to change them but they are grinding and making noise lol which is why im leaning toward the kevlar pad.
well after reading around on other forums I've decided that I'm going with the yellow stuff pads. I'll update this thread with my experiences with these pads in case anyone is curious down the road.
Just a little update...after about 150 miles I am extremely impressed with the extremely high but smooth stopping power of these pads and I don't hear any noise from them over my awr mounts. Gives such confidence it how quickly I can stop if I need on a dime but very smooth in DD. I recommend these 100%
I used to run yellow stuff with their dimpled/slotted rotors for about 2 years including many auto x and couple track days, was very happy with them, except one time one rear pad had seperated from the metal, still had 7mil left on em, so I'm guessing I just had a defective part, other wise I've been very happy with them when I had em
