Ebay CAI

Just installed mine. Rattles a little, runs better up top a little. Really loud, kinda ricey sounding. hehe

Does any1 know if they are still selling the ebay CAI? I want to get one but cant find them on ebay. Oh and I forgot I have a 2003 P5

WOW just got back from a night out driving with the intake. It rattles sometimes because the pipe is hitting the side of the hole but i stuck my old tube that was replaced by the blue one where it was rubbing and it's ok now.. when i wake up later today i'll find a more permanent solution.

This intake is hella loud. I was surprised (pleasantly)... it's a very nice sound I think.. a little ricey but still nice.

to stop the metal contacting metal, should I try to remount it so that it doesn't touch, or maybe I was thinking get some of that door edge guard stuff and stick it around the edge of the hole.. any other suggestions?

Oh and the power.. i have no dyno numbers to prove it, but it sure as hell feels faster... but maybe it's just the sound that makes it seem faster.

All in all, it's the best 70 dollars I have ever spent.

move all of the intake tubing around so the pipe doesn't touch the hole. if you have to adjust the couplers do so. Mine didn't fit very well and I turned the coupler that connects to the throttle body downwards so the pipes and couples all connected better. The intake piping shouldn't touch the metal surrounding the hole where it goes into.. The only thing mine might be doing is the actual air filter itself may be touching a part inside the bumper.. Once I can drive again I'll find out if it causes a noise or not, and if it does I'll just find a remedy for it.

It was definately worth it. I did the same thing with the old hose and buffering the piping. It works well. ANd it is loud on my car too. Alot louder then before and it sounds sick. I also agree that i definately saw some gains... but the noise makes it easy to overestimate sometimes.

Anyone know if you get better gas mileage out of it? I can't drive my car so I don't know, but when I put the Injen on my Celica (already had Apex'i N1 exhaust too) I got 2-4 more MPG roughly.

i think me driving it harder now negates any mileage increase (yippy)

Well I just ordered my ebay cai, now what K&N filter is every1 using? And does any1 know the part number for it cause I know that the opening inlet is 2.75in but what about the length and all that other stuff, I got the website where every1 is buying them but I just dont want to buy the wrong filter and be stuck with it.

I'm just using the filter it came with for now. it's really easy to get up in where the filter resides so eventually maybe i'll get a K&N but I'm in no rush. I don't mind the filter it came with at all.

The filter that came with it is it just a paper filter?
yeah i think it is paper based, but they make it look like a K&N... now that you reminded me of that I think i'll be getting a K&N soon.. oh and about the lengths, the filter mine came with was like 6 inches long I think, and it fit in there with some room... the metal on the filter hits against something when i start up the car (no it's not the pipe hitting the circular hole it's in, I have that taken care of already).

Yup it's just paper. I'll use it until I can afford a K&N, which shouldn't be too long since they're only like 30ish bucks.

yeah the filter hits against a metal shelf within the fender well, That shouldnt affect much but a small piece of rubber or duct tape could help. And the K&N cone isnt 30ish its more like 50ish.. since i already ordered mine. The drop in was like 30. I am actually using the old rubber stock intake ->TB piping as a ram air/ scoop to feed air into the fender compartment. it fit very easily.

Not as of this sec. but i can get some if u want. Basically the L end of the stock box->TB rubber piping faces out to catch air. the rest of the tube slides into and around the fender compartment via the square opening next to the radiator and lower air dam. It needed little or no mounting hardware since the plastic fender floor piece holds it in place... It is kinda wedged between the end of the filter and the plastic floor/front bumper.
....radiator......Filter
_________ ....\ | | | /..........|<-fender
_________|___\|_|_|/_/---/ |
...\|---|___tube_________/ |
,..\|---| |______________|<-bumper

This is very crude but it was so easy and i believe i noticed an improvement...especially when the car was moving/highway speeds
hope this helps

Hey does any1 know another place they sell the ebay CAI I went to the site provided and they say they are on back order and dont know when they will make new ones.

I guess there were too popular, I got my K&N cone and with the ram air it has given more top end gain and faster reving. Although it is quieter now... but i think it is cause the rubber on the KN filter doesnt make noise when it knocks against the metal inside the fender like the ebay filter.
