EBAY 44mm EWG vs Tial 38mm EWG

I've had a tial 38mm EWG for a minute but the manifold i bought came with a 44mm EWG flange instead. I bought an ebay no name brand 44mm EWG that happened to come with an adapter to mate my tial 38mm EWG to my manifold. Now I get to run a little experiment. I want to see if the ebay EWG is worth a damn. I've always been curious if some of the chinese stuff on ebay is as bad as people say it is when the people selling the stuff have nearly 100% positive feedback.

Here's pictures of the monstrous wastegate with the adapter i'm going to use for my tial.

Wowee,
how are you managing it? and what kind of boost and flow? You sure that does not belong on a caterpillar bulldozer? haha. gotta love science experiments

If you're really going to install any chinese ebay parts on your car, you should REALLY take it completely apart first and check to see if it's put together right, or otherwise already broken. I've dealt with this stuff many times before, I have had alot of friends and customers try to use this stuff right out of the box with some horrendous results. I personally had an chinese "greddy type-s" fall apart before I even was finished installing it because they never tightened the shaft nut inside. When I took it apart I was horrified to find out that it was filled with oil and METAL SHAVINGS from the assembly process. I still used it, but I had to de-burr all of the internals, machine down one of the cups that was incorrectly copied, clean it and lube it properly. It operated perfectly after that, but quit working again after 2 months and I had to replace the diaphragm inside of it (with a real greddy part, which is made of silicone instead of crappy rubber... and costs $70).

I'm lucky it was just a BOV in my case. If the diaphragm in a wastegate goes bad, the car will overboost and "bad things" can happen.

If I were you I'd just stick with the name brand stuff, especially on such a vital component.

good point, the vitals and the bad things. Some times you are paying for the engineering that was done up front to get the part quality that is accurate and does not fail you. I am going to get a greddy profec b even though it is fairly expensive. or quite pricey even. But they do the job again and again accurately. And i am a cheapo by nature. You make a good example Destrux, of why to invest in quality manufacture and design.

Wow that thing is a monster. It is almost the size of the my HKS 60mm GT wastegate on my MP3.

Post up when you get that thing installed
