Hey I know there are a lot of performance mod posts on here but im looking for easily installed bolt ons. So far ive got a CAI. Im looking for easily installed stuff because I will be taking stuff on / off frequently for warranty reasons :) . Any reccomendations on mods that can improve my speed 6 without too much installation work ?? Ive been thinking about a TMIC . . . what do you think? Will that give my mazda a little zoom zoom ?

bpv/bov is very easy bolt-on.

i've heard the test pipe is also easy for more power. an upgraded TMIC would help too. probably not too tough.

Yeah i know BOV's are easy but they are pretty pointless unless u have higher hp / boost right? The sound is nice but with my intake the stock BOV doesnt sound that bad.

intake ,bov upgraded tmic ,motor mount and test pipe ....easy to remove for dealer visits if you are woried about warranty and with them you gain some power...

the stock valve is known to leak. even on a totally stock car it would help hold boost better. its not a guaranteed jump in hp, more of making sure that you are getting the hp that the car was designed for.

Thanks guys appreciate your posts. Im looking at a new TMIC / test pipe. Anyone reading this feel free to add anything you dont see here. Thanks

why do you need it take the stuff off easily for warranty reasons?

it is FAR easier to remove a mod before taking your car into the dealer than to worry about them possibly voiding your warranty because of an aftermarket part. mazda is cracking down these days on that crap, and we, the consumers, are paying for it. if you don't remove the parts, you *shouldnt* have a problem, but its much much easier to not risk it.

hell my dealership tried to blame a faulty O2 sensor on my SCANGAUGE.

i understand. i guess im just lucky since every dealer ive ever taken my car too never said a word about anything done to my car. most of them actually ask me about the stuff.

Yep you got it. Im from orlando and from what I have seen dealers around here arent the best. Not going to take any chances until my warranty expires.

I take my car to get tune-ups locally, keep my receipts, and should anything catastrophic go wrong I can tow it home, put it back to stock, and then flatbed it to the dealership to fix.

I have heard that most dealers are ignorant assholes. So far I would have to agree. I wish I could do my own oil changes, but without proof of pros doing the work you have no case to get warranty work done.

Best of luck. I (being a bad influence here) say mod BUT take your time, be careful and thorough, and keep all your old parts. Don't do anything you can't redo yourself (I didn't follow my own advice, dp installed ftw or ftl?)

**Just be safe and have service done somewhere else! Tah-dah, problem solved!

**For bolt ons: intake, bov or 50/50 (if you want the sound or have a leaking factory bpv), dashhawk, a good radar detector, testpipe

for the most part i agree.

my argument for DYI oil changes is that the manual TELLS YOU HOW TO DO IT. why would they tell a owner how to perform this, when its required to be done by the dealer/pro? i still keep all my receipts showing the purchase of the mazda oil filter, and the jugs of oil.

Lots of people seem to like the power gains they get from test pipes. How hard are they to install? Will most likely be even harder for me because ill be jacking my car and trying to get underneath with just axel stands. On average how long do you think it would take to install. CAI took me about 1 hour only because i took off 3/4 of the bumper then said screw it and removed splash guard instead.

Its not a question of you cant do it yourself. Its a question that you did the oil change on the day/mileage you state you did... If done at the dealer there is a computer record showing date mileage and parts used... If done by you all youll have is a reciept for the parts but no proof of date or mileage that you did the oil change....

I've dealt with dealers on the issue of oil changes. Granted, it was a Toyota dealership, but I would imagine the rules are the same. The burden of proof was on them to show that there was neglect on my ex g/f's Celica. She spun the #4 bearing, and actually got the entire bottom end rebuilt as a result. Keep a nice simple Excel spreadsheet with the date, mileage, and intervals for your oil changes and you should be in good hands. I have changed the oil on both new cars I've owned and not had a bit of issue with them.
