Mazda CX-5 Homura 2,5 NA AWD
I've searched the forum but didn't find any information about e-SkyactivG that I have in my 2.5 NA 2023 CX-5.

Do anyone have any documentation, links or information that they can share about what it is, how it works and what the under passenger battery is used for?

I have i-stop configured to turn off after car starts as i don't like that feature :)

Thanks for any information/links :)

Mild Hybrid in the Mazda makes i-stop very smooth, because it does not use the starter motor, but the Integrated Starter Generator which is part of the Mild Hybrid System. Therefore I would recommend to use i-stop.
Brake energy is stored in the battery and used to assist the motor when accelerating.

Mazda's i-Stop is already pretty smooth and fast, and does not use the starter, even on the conventional gas engines.

I have read that before, but even though it is a Mazda publication, I still doubt the correctness of the statement that the starter motor or Integrated Starter Generator would not be used to start the engine after it has been stopped by i-Stop.

A thorough start/stop explanation:

I have iStop on my CX-50 (2.5t). It most certainly DOES use the starter motor to restart the engine. I've now disabled it on my car.

In the movie with the two engines on that webpage, in both situations the starter motor is activated (colored red). With Mazda i-stop there is also extra combustion to start the engine faster.

In the schematic drawings with the four cylinders below that movie the bottom-left cylinder has the caption "Combustion + motor assistance". In that same drawing you also see the starter motor activated.

i-stop also requires a special battery because of the many times the engine has to be started by activating the starter motor, which puts an extra strain on the battery.

That website is 6 years old and doesn't apply to the new Mazda mild-hybrids. They didn't even exist at the time videos were make

And what do you mean by that?

An explanation of the Mazda Mild Hybrids can be found earlier in this thread.
