as title says. i have narrowed down my searching to the Dual XDVD8182 and the Jensen 9511ts. but i couldn't find that many reviews on either of them from anyone. so does anyone know which one is better. i like the dual since it isn't so busy looking with all those logos. and both are ipod ready and have all the accessories, 7", plus all the plug-in ports that i like. so opinions?

Dual
Jensen

yeah, started looking at alpines just after i posted that. man those are nice. thanks.

i've got the iva-d300 and it's a sweet unit. but you might want to consider saving up a little more and picking up an iva-w200. it has a smaller screen, but the picture is nicer and it has the ipod full speed hookup.

alright awesome. i'm trying to plan out purchases for the 5 now so i can have money when the parts are available. thanks man.

what size is that screen, 6.5"?

yeah, its a 6.5". that and not having a volume knob are my only complaints about the w200.

hmm. still a 7" would be dreamy. a volume knob is kinda small so not so picky on that.

I've been doing some research in this area, but my demands are at the point where I'd be lucky to get what I want for $2000. (DVD/NAV/DSP/DBL-DIN)

ha, my friend just built and sold his carputer he built. but he's still trying to get me to do one. mp3car is his life.

I have the Jensen TS DVD and it is a very good value for a cheaper unit. It looks and feels like a 2-3yr old Clarion unit. The complaints I have with it are no cool graphics when using it as a radio or CD player, and it does have a tendency to produce slight alternator whine no matter how perfect your ground is. I'm actually considering getting rid of it in the very near future as I've had it for about 3 months and barely use it. it is being used as a supplement for the rest of my system which is all Kenwood 25th Anniversary, except for the subs and rear components which are 12" Alpine Type R DVC running in 1ohm and Alpine 5.25 I-Drive components. If you're looking for something in-expensive with a touch screen the Jensen is a million times better than the dual unit or that Innovatek unit. You can definitely go the used route but be careful buying a screen second hand. Many of these have been abused and are being sold for a reason. If you're looking at touchscreens be especially careful as the oils on our fingers had a tendency to break the older generation screens within a couple of years.

Best bet for a nice double din is the Kenwood... almost bought this myself before deciding to 25th

The one i have was never installed in my car, it belonged to Blackrose before, and he said it was in great shape.

Alright, thanks for the info. I didn't know about the oils breaking the screens.

No problem... and most people don't. The newer generations aren't as sensitive as the technology is better but, I remember working in a shop when the first TS Kenwoods came out and we saw about 40% come back with a problem within the first year...

Absolutely would... there is no way a product that costs over $1500 would leave a factory today if they crapped out in under a year while they're still warrantied... now at least you get 13 months!
