2011 Mazda CX9 Sport
I have the 2011 sport. I was wanting to install a dvd player and monitor or monitors for the little one. My problem is I wanted to keep the oem headunit. Would there be a way to install an aftermarket headrest monitor and have the rear speakers play the audio for the video, while being able to have the front speakers play the audio for the headunit? If this is not possible what other options would I have without spending thousands of dollars or losing my oem headunit? Any help would be appreciated.

From my understanding you should be able to install headrest monitors and keep your oem headunit. Though I doubt the headunit can play audio from the dvd player in the rear something different up front. The headrest player will prob have an FM transmitter or RCA wires out to play the sound through the car's speakers. Most headrest players come with headphones. Why not just use that? If not I'm pretty sure a shop can provide separate speakers for the headrest player. They could prob install this under the driver or passenger seats.

Thanks, additional speakers would work great. I'm getting the headrest monitors for our vacation this summer and my son is only going to be 2 1/2, so he wont keep the headsets on. It's going to be a 13 hour drive so I have to have something to keep him entertained.

Not sure if you have bought yet. you can go to onfair.com and get headrest with speakers, all these headrest needs is the power. the headrest comes with 2 dvd players. this is the best option if you want to keep your stock radio

Does anyone who bought these headrest monitors from onfair.com have the sand interior? I am curious to see how that looks.
