I was wondering if i should get a duel 10" sub set up or a single 12" set up for my car. I have a Mazda 3 that i just put new component and 6x8 speakers in and im looking for more bass. Ive been searching crutchfield.com and found some pretty good deals. Infact i might want to go dual 12" alpine type-E because they are buy one get one free. Any input will help.

Thanks!

Don't buy the E's.

Also, what kind of music do you listen to mostly?
At what level?Do you have an aftermarket head unit?
What amplifier are you using?
How much space do you need in your trunk?
Whats your total budget for amp/sub/box/parts?

-The Alpine Rs are great
-The Ss are good, but not as good as the Rs
-The Es aren't much better than stock if I remember correctly
-The Xs are very good, but you pay for that quality

E's are refurbrished Type S subwoofers.

Other then when ported, I am not a fan of the Type R's. Their not bad, I just like other subs more.

I listen to mostly rock/hard rock and rap. I have a stock stereo (sadly but it looks good in the 3) and i dont have an amp yet but was thinking about getting Profile 400MSX to power Infinity Kappa 120.3dvc. Thought single 12" because i tend to be listening to more rap then rock these days. My budget id have to say is about $500 (not getting to many hours at work now sadly).

There is nothing worse then matching a good speaker with a lowsy amplifier.

Since you have to integrate it into a 3's factory head unit, be sure that the amp has speaker level inputs or that you buy a LOC.

For $500 I'd get this:
An Alpine MRP-M350 sub amp. I have yet to see its power to price equal. Its a great little amp and only $200 at full retail. You can match that with either a JL audio single W0 in a box or dual 10W0's and still be under $500

If you get the dual 10's get the 2 ohm version of the box.
Also you can get a JL 12W3v2 in a custom box for around $300 aswell. The W3 and the Alpine are a fantastic combo that I sold alot of.
