does dropping gear wear out/ burn the clutch?

i was in 4th and dropped to 3rd to go faster

now my clutch slightly feels higher.. or it might just be in my head

Harder driving will wear out parts sooner than "normal" driving but, unless something was weakened or damaged before you went speed racing, you shouldn't feel any difference after just one time doing it.

If you make a habit of it, though, bad things might happen. From what I've gathered, our cars are peppy and all but not really designed with racing in mind.

it will prolly just burn out the clutch sooner by continually doing that...thats fine by me, then i can convince my wife to let me buy a lightweight flyweel and new clutch

You have nothing to worry about. I think it's just your head. Dropping gear to go faster is exactly what a stick is supposed to be used for. If you beat on your clutch then it won't last that long but dropping down a gear to get more power is standar procedure and should not hurt your clutch if done correctly.

Just be careful with your clutch.. I've already had to have my MSP's clutch replaced with only around 12k on it.
