Driving a Stick

when i first drove an auto i pressed on the brake with my left thinking it was the clutch.
lets just say 2 ppl got bruised

all ive ever driven are manual cars and i get bored and fall asleep when i drive an auto but to help you out all you really need to learn first is the clutch pedal go into a empty parking lot, like one for a highschool statium and ease the clutch out in first without pushing the gas pedal same in second third and so on then after you get that down you can start using the gas pedal for more acceleration just ease out on the clutch and when you feal it start to stick ease into the gas slowly releasing the clutch while adding gas when its time to shift(for a beginner id say 3.5k-4k rpms is good) ease into the clutch ease out of the gas shift to second and do the reverse for a nice smooth shift. just my $.02 hope it helps

thanks for all your guys/gals help. I don't have an msp yet. I actually called the dealership and they said they havn't had on in 4 months and wasn't sure if they would even be getting one in. He said most likely the only hope to have on on the lot there would be a trade in. What would be good terms for buying a msp. Like interest, time and pmts? Also what is the going price for them where you guys live?

The funniest thing i saw was on the evolutionm boards that this kid who's parents bought him an EVO8 as his first car. The kid was 16, just got his liscense and didnt know how to drive stick. That is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Was this kid from CA? There was a kid at the Laguna track day in the same situation. I'm not sure if he knew how to drive stick, but his first car was a white EVO. His brother-in-law (instructor) was teaching him how to drive the car.

LOL my dad once told me the first time he drove an automatic car he didn't know what to do. And he kept putting it in neutral when coming to a stop until somebody told him he didn't have to loll

That's a really funny story because my first car was an automatic and I HAD to put it in neutral at every stop or the friggin thing would stall.... interesting way to learn to drive BTW. I loved that sh*tbox until it finally gave up on me and died.
