Hello all. We just got our new 2025 CX90 PHEV about 10 days ago. Have 440 miles on it. Yesterday morning my wife got in and immediately got the "Engine Malfunction" and "Hybrid system malfunction" message on the dash. It still ran but no AC. Dealer snuck us in first thing this morning. They ran the codes and said, it needs a battery. I was surprised by this as it charged fine last night and ran fine taking it to the dealer, but they say it needs a battery and it will take 6-8 weeks to get one. Thankfully they put us in a nice CX90 loaner but that is a major bummer at only 440 miles.
There are threads all over this forum, reddit, and many other places about this engine malfunction so feel free to point me in the direction of another thread, but I'm just looking for feedback and suggestions. It seems like there are software updates as well. I would like to believe, and my dealer claims, they will look at all recalls and ask Mazda what software to run/update. Is this true or should I be pushing them to update to a specific software? Seems like mixed reviews where some users have had to ask the dealer to update. Anyway, please do share thoughts as having the battery replaced so soon just based on the engine light seems really strange to me and I'd like to avoid major issues after this fix. Thanks in advance!
