Dragonbabe, I feel ya....Someone stole stereo (Z919)

Right now I'm still trying to figure out which stereo I will get as a replacement. It will be a Kenwood. I have had some thoughts about what probably happened....

They probably used like a crowbar to gently break out my window, and then dissconnect my alarm. It was just to neatly folded and under my car. My friend came out to disarm his alarm, and it beeped like 4 times meaning it had went off..so they were gonna get his s*** too. He got lucky. Hmm...Any thoughts on combating this type of thing?

Is there any reason why I should get an Excelon? What is the difference?

Not realy the 919 has everything the excelons do, alot of people just like the looks of the excelon better.

they prolly didnt try to break your window.. they tried to do what they call peeling.. you insert a key or something small and flat into the top of the window and pry the window out of the seal.what is supposed to happen is you move the window to give enough play to reach in and unlock the car.. they prolly flexed the window back too far and caused the window to bust. check the black seal around your window for holes or penetration. there is no real way to keep them from entering your car other than a detachable face stereo, a good shock sensor, loud alarm (install additional horns inside so it makes it unbearable in the car) and if your really in doubt.. pull an important fuse out.. your just lucky they didnt go thru the handle.. on my rx7 someone sat outside my house for prolly a good hour an priend the drivers side handle off the car to gain access -=(

Those things that fill the car with chemical "smoke" (like they use in clubs or in stage shows) seem like they should work well. The stuff is very opaque in an enclosed space like a car, and you can't steal what you can't see.

Ok...so it wasn't just you...I used to have an '82 and a '91 RX7. When they broke into my '82 they just used a dent puller on the drivers door lock and popped the whole damn lock cylinder out. I wish they would have just smashed the window...then there would be no body work needed. I just ended up shaving the locks off after that.

In my '91 RX7, they tried to pry the lock, but were unsuccessful. It gave me a good laugh finding the tip of a screwdriver broken off in my lock though. Maybe they should have invested in some higher quality tools...lol.

Also, having tinted windows is nice, because if your window is smashed, it usually stays attached to the tint film. That way you aren't picking pieces of glass out of your vehicle for the next few months.

Well, after all was said and done, I got my HU replaced with something a lot better that has a detachable face, and even got a free Sirius Satallite Tuner! I came out much better in the longrun. Theives suck! Compustar

From reading all these posts about breaking into cars, I had a terrible dream last night. I was inside a house, overlooking a parking lot and some yellow MP3 comes and rams his car directly into my MP3!! So I run out and 2 guys proceed to fight me and steal my car!! UGH! So yeah, when I woke up I was the happiest man alive...
