ok so i want to get an exhaust and i cant afford (but would like) ion's turbo back so i guess the next best thing would be to get a dp and a cat back. my question is...... i live in florida and we have no emitions testing anymore. should i go w/ a DP w/ or w/o a cat? will there be any differences with them w/ sound, permance, etc.

Also after getting a DP i can easily go to a muffler shop and have them make a custom system from the DP back correct? anyone have a clue as to the cost of this.

OK ONE MORE!!!!! if i do go w/ a custom set up which muffler would yeild the best sound? im looking for a nice deep tone no rasp!!!! i had a MAGNAFLOW race series on my 00 eclipse GT and loved the growl. i know it was a V6 but is there anything comprable?

go with a cat-less exhaust, its better, and cost will depend on the shop you goto, and i would get a magnaflow again if you liked the sound before, im using one and love it...

If you have no emissions testing, then get one without a cat. The smoother, and less restricted the flow, the more power you will get.
Yes, you can go to a muffler shop and have them make you a catback(from the DP flange back) fairly cheap. The only gamble is finding an exhaust that you will be happy with. Cost-wise, it should only be a few hundred for piping/labor since you will supply the exhaust canister.
I've got the JIC stainless steel catback, and it is absolutely awsome. Very nice growl down low, and it is fairly quiet while accelerating and at normal driving speeds. if you search the site, you can find a few reps that sell it, and some pics of what it looks like. It's gonna run you about the same price as any other decent catback(just over $600), but they have the perfect size/style/sound in my opinion.

how doest the muffler look? ive seen some cars were the muffler is pointed at a down angle. i like a straight look or the way apex mounted their new muffler.

a muffler shop can easily angle the muffler any way you choose. if you want a smooth, very deep tone, go with 5zigen :D if you're looking for a low growl, the jic will probably suit your needs.

ok so what do you think would be cheaper? buying apex's dp & exhaust or getting their DP and going w/ a custom exhaust?

ok striker so i took a look at all your vids and pics and i think you convinced me to go w/ your custom set up :D now i just gotta piece it together.

yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yippy) (yippy) (yes) :D
oh btw, wholesalehyperformance for some reason has the 3" version listed at $124!!?? i think they meant $224 but you never know.

I am selling Protosport Downpipes. PM me if interested. $245 shipped. :D[/SHAMELESS PLUG]

Hey PRINT OUT the website where it says $124. And order a few of them, if they notice they still have to give you the muffler at the price of $124. I remember best buy did this on their website and I printed it out and ordered a few things and I got them at cheaper prices and just sold them for a little less then what everyoen else was. Good way to make some cash.

they do have a small disclaimer that says they aren't responsible for any typos on the website :(. it's still worth a shot though.

protosport is 2.4" i believe with no cats so it will throw a cel. an o2 simulator will fix that. no need to really go bigger with the t25. and nicely priced too :)

im going to call wholesale perf tomorrow on the price of that muffler and if it is $124 im buying one

oh well.............

No, it is error, we had a blow out sale in Sept. Our webmaster did not
change it back to normal.
It should be $224.00 your cost. 30% off list.
Thanks

i thought so :( oh well. still, $224 is a good price for it. you won't find many other places selling it for that cheap. shipping is $25 i believe.

when I saw this title I was like OMG!!!! I though you were talking about another DP ;)
