so im in the process of installing my corksport dp and im very upset...

about 2 weeks ago i sent my car in for the bad turbo seal at browns mazda in fairfax. they repaired or replaced the turbo seal or whatever it is they did and it fixed the problem with the smoke coming out the exhaust. heres the upsetting part. i go to remove the dp and they reused all the original hardware. 2 of the studs were stripped and 1 of the studs wasnt even the right size. it was obviously way to small... what they had done was get a smaller stud(in diameter) and 2 nuts to install the stock dp to the turbo. i took out the stud to look at the threading. lets just say that it didnt look like a stud ever went in there. the inside was completely stripped of its threading. so bad to the point that i cant even re-tap it. maybe its just me but arent they suppose to replace or fix something like that and not use improper hardware? f ing ridiculous. oh an another thing, another 1 of the 5 studs werent even tightened down all the way. i removed for 4 studs and the dp moved about freely. wtf is up with that?! gah this is pissing me off.

so at this point i removed the turbo to fix the threading in the ones i could. re tapped 3 of the them, 1 came out good and the other one(small) i just have the leave it like that. now, the turbo will go back in along with the new corksport dp. shouldnt be any more then 2 maybe at most 3 hours. ill update again when it gets done and i go for a test drive.

moral of the story... dont go to browns.. they suck at life. okok.. that was harsh. they REALLY suck at life.

ok here we go....
just finished installing it. everything is back on. there were some issues with the install. first off.. what the dealership did, or didnt do rather... second, i have a su test pipe. the donut gasket that comes on the corksport dp is just a little too big for it. so theres a tiny leak. the bolts that came with the dp were too long so we had to use the stock bolts with the springs. they are pretty much compressed all the way down to ensure a tight seal. but still just the smallest of leaks is present. nothing to big though. can barely feel it on the back of my hand. now is the test drive... ill be back with that update in a couple hours.

That sucks, dude. If I wasn't at work, I'da probably came over and helped. I know it's farther for you when you're in town, but Rosenthal Arlington has done me well so far, and they're a sponsor here.

If it's any consolation, my CP-E CAI install didn't go as smoothly as possible, either. Actually, the CAI went in well, but I broke the mounting points on the tips of the front bumper while taking it off.

just went on the test dive and I'm not happy at all. When I to wot in any gear at about 5krpm my car seems to give up and then pick back up again then give up again. Maybe boost cut? Is it posible that I'm pushing too much boost and it's cutting off? Any else exp this with a full turbo back exhaust catless? Any input will be very helpful. And for the record, I don't have a mbc or boost gauge.

can anyone help me? i remember when we took off the turbo we drained some coolant so i filled her back up and its gotta a little better but im still getting a boost cut or feul cut or soemthing to make my car want to die at higher rpms. maybe the computer needs to learn.. i dont know exactly.

When i had both the DP and Midpipe I was getting serious boost cut when it was cooler out. There's not a whole lot you can do, I plan on getting the AP which should make it all go away.

errr... i dont like boost cut.. its cuz theres too much right? it was about like 90 degrees here today when it happened. it seems like maybe the computer is learning it. cuz it was happened at like 6k rpm the last time. and it was fine in 1st 2nd and i think 3rd was good too. but 4th i felt it really cut off. and whats AP?

i want to get it. i just dont know which map i would use with the mods i have done. most all of them say you have to have a stock bov and a catalytic converter.. definately dont have any cats now.
