Door sills

I was thinking about ordering some of the stainless/non-lit sills but am concerned with the bottom of the door rubbing against it as it looked like the tolerance was rather close. Do they touch with the sills installed or is there enough clearance?

Mine do not rub.

Mine don't rub either.

How do they fit? Also, they look kind of cheesy in the pics I've seen. How are they in real life?

Yes KN, but look what you saved in research, lol. I just bought the missis a sky blue GT and simply joined here to see all the goodies that are available. MD in NJ, I hope you survived the storm. Have friends in Flemington and they faired well. Regards... :)

I finally got my eBay door sills last week, and installed them last weekend. Here are a couple of pictures I took today with the iPad. Forgive the terribly poor quality, just wanted to show how they look. These are simple kind, no lights, just silver/brushed effect. Took me all of 10 min to clean the area and install with already provided 3M tape. One is front (longer one), the other is back.

Hey 10X,
Thanks. We are unharmed but 3 fence panels blew out, a couple of window shutters fell, a big branch off the tree was broken. The main pain in the butt, still, is that we have no power with no clear estimate when it will be restored. The damage to the utility poles seems to be quite extensive here by us.

I am considering getting the LED version of the door sills. Does anyone know how to connect them for power? I assume they'd be connected to the same power source / switch when the doors are opened. Anyone have detailed instructions on how to do this?

I'd also be interested in knowing about this too. The LED blue ones would look great on my Sky Blue CX-5

anyone have any info or tips on how to install these LED door sills? I ordered a set, and was planning on tying into the door switch for the dome light, but I cant even find the door switch....any help would be appreciated...

I was looking at these....is it true that these look as if they curl over the edge of the door sill, unlike the OEM ones? These seem to protect better than the OEM if they curl over the edge, but any issue with door seal interference? Thanks!

Received my door sills today. I'll install them along with the OEM bumper guard tomorrow.

Where did you order these from? Any links? I am assuming the red is paint? Thanks.

Damn it Weeboom! I wanted to have blue ones as well, but ended up with stock ones (red/orange depending on angle) and only front lit:

I got mine (in Feb) from Aliexpress.com this is the seller I purchased from http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2012...ss-steel-Scuff-Plate-Door-Sill/656303500.html. I would look around though, sometimes sellers are offering free/cheap DHL or EMS shipping which takes 1-2 weeks opposed to 1-5 weeks. I did not install them myself; the wire is ran under the side trim (pop rivets), into the loom under the steering wheel. There is a small fuse wired in as well. The front and back are lit.

Here they are installed

Thanks so much. Now the question is, how do you install them? Where did you pull power from? Or do you have to go to a stereo store or something so they can tap power and bring it out to the sills? Did you have to do any drilling? Thanks!

It is a led light.

yes i would as well like to know which wire is the correct wire to tap into, someone please help thanks

Chas,
I have these. I made the mistake of not adding extra 3M tape (highly recommend!) - only put them on with what they came with, and one (rear passenger) came off a month or two later because my 9-year old uses that door. Others are ok but maybe that's because I am careful not to step on it and I rarely have front passengers. They do "curl over" and it looks nice; I have not noticed any door seal interference. Hope this helps!
