Door locks....

sundevil says he has the factory alarm...and his does this....I just read through the entire section of the owners manual that has ANYTHING to do with the doors, the locks, the ignition switch....driving the car....there is nothing there....

Sundevil...are you SURE the alarm you have is an actual factory alarm? or could it be one that the dealer added to your car?

This turned out to be an interesting post. I checked with my friend and he says that he has a factory alarm but I couldn't see and led light anywhere and his remote is the same as mine (3 buttons:lock, unlock, panic). Is this all you should have if there is a factory alarm? I suppose I could check and try to break in! lol

I believe he THINKS he has a factory alarm since he has a keyless remote.....NOT TRUE....IF you have the true factory alram there will be a small red LED just in front of the steering wheel....between it and the insturment cluster that flashes when its armed.

if he DOES in fact have an alarm.....its not a factory one and its been some how hooked up to work with his factory keyless remote.

yeah it's the factory alarm...i'm gonna feel stupid if i have to go back to the dealer so they can teach me how to work the alarm...lol

oh well...anybody else with a suggestion??

well dude....you won't be in the boat alone....of course THEY will feel even stupider when THEY don't know about a feature that THEIR cars have....If they don't have the answer....and I finally find out...I make sure I let someone there know....just so they KNOW how ignroant they are of their own product....AND so that they can pass on the information to new buyers.

oh, btw,

there is absolutely NOTHING in the alarm documentation that comes with the car that even mentions this feature....I have EVERY piece of paper that came with the car...and its not there....and there is nothing in the regular manual OR the supplement to the manual that came with it either...

I would be willing to BET MONEY that when I get to the dealer and talk to them that they are going to look at me like I am crazy too and will have NO IDEA what I am talking about.....for we ALL know just how knowledgable they tend to be. lol

(stash)

My doors lock as soon as i turn the key and then release the parking brake. And they auto unlock when i pull the parking brake and taking the key out.

Of course it's a feature that came with my Compustar Alarm.:p

I am gonna chime in on this one with my opinion. I am pretty sure that my wifes P5 has the ignition controlled door locks. She does have the "factory" alarm, but what most people fail to realize is this "factory" alarm is actually made by Code Alarm and it actually an add on feature. I believe they are either installed at the dealer or port-of-entry. Anyway, most aftermarket set ups can switch between ignition controlled locks or non-ignition controlled locks. This is done through a series of key flicks and pressing the valer button. I have the feeling that whoever installed the alarms, may or may not have enabled this feature. I am willing to make a small wager that this can be changed. I will have to look through some of my old Code-Alarm installation manuals and see if I can figure something out.
