Dome Light issues

Noticed something strange today. I opened the drivers door this morning and the dome light came on. Before I was even in the seat and the door was still open, the light went out. I thought it was strange but headed to work.

Tonight after leaving my parents house for a visit it was dark and I opened the drivers door and was greeted by no dome light at all. I closed the door and opened it again. The light did come on but went out in about 5 seconds.

Several tests suggest that for whatever reason, when opening the drivers door, the dome light will stay on for about 5 seconds and then go out. Opening any other door the light operates as expected. Seems like there must be a glitch in the "software."

I tried changing all of the settings via the radio for timeouts to see if that would force it to rethink itself but it still is doing it. Anybody else seen any strange light issues? This is a really irritating issue as the light goes out before you even really get in.

Maybe a bad door switch? I'd take it to the dealer to diagnose...

You know, I had justified that out as an option in my mind at the time but after reading your suggestion I rethought and it makes excellent sense... I guess I was really tired.

Anyway, I went out this morning and it was still misbehaving. I opened the door and noticed the red open door light on the dash was not lit. I took a screwdriver and wiggled the latch lever inside the door and the light came back on and the red light illuminated. It is "fixed" for the moment. I'll be talking to the dealer as it clearly has an iffy switch.

Thanks for the kick in the right direction!
