Doing your own powdercoat

anyone know a place that teaches you how to do this on the internet? i cant really find a place or the materials (i dont know what to look for)...i read the powdercoat oven is only 350 degrees, and so i could do it in my oven, unless there is some long process i dont really know about.

well you will have to sandblast whatever you wish to powdercoat. i just think it would not be worth the time, money for materials, and trouble to do it yourself. i mean i got my stock rims on my 5 powdercoated for 35 a wheel. im sure if i wanted anything else powdercoated, they would give me a good deal. by the way what do you plan on coating?

i was THINKING about coating my headers red...but im not sure if it will look bad or not

the headers will end up melting to the engine. what i mean is the powdercoat will melt form the heat and then stick to the engine. trust me on this one, the insides of my powdercoated rims melted to the rotors because of the heat. it was hell to get the rims off, but eventually i go um off. it took me 5 hours and a jack hammer. good luck though.

Do not use your kitchen oven. The stuff is toxic and the smell never goes away.

You need someway to electrically charge the item (header, etc) and have it hold that charge while you apply a static powder to it....THEN (while the powder is still electrostatically held to the part) you need to bake it.....

I suggest you pay for it :d

You might be able to get your headers done. They have high heat powdercoating. Just have to find someone who does it.

Bottom line is your coming up with Ideas and improving on the apprence of your engine bay in new and unique ways, Razor, you are a Pioneer! Keep the ideas rolling, even if they are crazy and toxic!

i emailed a few places, no one wants to do powdercoat on my headers they say even the powdercoat will melt

appreciate the help, but its already on, and its prolly gonna stay there for now...look for pics soon
