Does the shark fin antenna effect the Nav system at all?

I'm new to the forum and I just bought a 2006 MS6 with Nav. I hate the big goofy antenna and I'm seriously considering the VG Shark Fin antenna.

This may be a stupid question but will the navigation signal be affected at all by the antenna? I know the system is DVD based but does the GPS signal go through the main antenna? Does anyone with Nav have this antenna installed? I searched and couldn't come up with the right answer. Sorry if this question is ridiculous. Thanks, JB.

No, the fin won't make any difference to your GPS (at least it doesn't on my '07).

There are two gyro's in the Speed6's, one for speed and one for direction. This is so that even if your car can't get a true GPS signal it is still able to properly position itself on your navigation screen.

As far as where the GPS signal is actually received, I am uncertain; but, the VG Shark Fin won't make any difference to that. The only difference it may make is weaken the signal for certain radio stations but, I have had no issues since I put it on 2 years ago.
