ive got an "ex-msp" or N/A lol dont ask. Anyways im running a stock protege ecu and thinking about getting the mp3 ecu..is it worth it? thanks

It won't make your car turbo, but you'll pick up a few hp. You will have to run premium to take advantage of the timing advance.

depends on what you see as worth it. you get a slight bump in power and a much smoother power band but you have to run premium. in my eyes running premium is not worth it but its all in the eye of the person who is doing it

right now the power band is real rough...i ran 87 octane and 89 octane and its all the same...i havent tried premuin...and to me it dont really matter...premuim is like 2.89 so thats 20 cents differentce from regular...i just dont really want the headache of the turbo and all the problems that peopl are having with turbos. so i fugured i just put an mp3 ecu in there and that be good enough for me

It makes the powerband smooth like it should have been from the factory. It's well worth the money, premium and all. It's also a good foundation for other N/A mods.

I have a SpooledUp header, MS axle-back, and Injen CAI all with the MP3 ECU reflash from Spicy and it makes a noticeable difference. I also run 93 octane if it matters... V-POWER!

i say put a stock turbo kit on there and do it right and be problem free and reliably quick.

Probably a noob question but how much of a horsepower does the mp3 ecu give you, or is it just a difference in the powerband?

the ECU along with lack of VTCS and the racing beat tuned exhaust netted the MP3 10hp and 7ft lb of torque compared to the standard ES.

1) How is an MP3 ECU not "right"?

2) I doubt throwing a stock turbo kit on a bone stock P5 will be "problem free", let alone "reliable"

With that being said, I put the MP3 ECU flash on mine and noticed a big difference. I ran 93 octane with it and it made the powerband much smoother, engine ran smoother, and I got somewhat better of gas mileage.

Does the better gas mileage get negated due to the cost of running 93 octane? Reading this thread has made me think about doing the reflash, but it looks like some members get the MP3 reflash or ECU and still run 87 octane? Any long term negative effects by doing that?
