does anyone know how to take off the grill?

i was planning to paint my Grill, but the problem comes, i couldnt take off, lol!!!

is anyone know how to take it off, coz i really wana paint my grill~

or if some one have pics to show how to would be better!!!

thanx a lot~

hey.. i own an mp3... assuming you own a p5?? should be the same though

bottom grill just comes off... thats it.. pull it.. it will come off... its held on by plastic "lips" or "catchers" that grab onto the vertical bars in the mouth of the bumper... the top grill you have to take off a couple bolts, and then it just comes off as well... hope if works for ya

MP3, thx for dat information, really^^
but i got one more question, how do u put the bottom grill back after i done the paint??? do i just pull it out and after i done just put it back with glue or????? can u tell me how to plz?? thanx a lot man, really, i appreciate that^^

AcoupDetat, i do want replace with a metal grill on, but i am lookin forwar from Japan's MP5 mazdaspeed grill, so be4 i get it, i'll just paint by myself i guess^^

yah.. once its painted.. it just pops back on... its hard to explain.. but there are vertical running "supports" in the "mouth" of the bottom grill (just like vertical bars really), and there are latches on the back of the grill peice itself... if you just pull the grill, it comes right off... and you can just line it up and pop it back in when your done (theres no glue or anything holding it in) I love the white grill I painted... it was the first thing i did appearance wise to the mp3 :) the ICE was all first

anyway, hope that answers your question

Peace

thanx MP3, thanx to explain to me for all those, really^^

i will try to do it today~

btw, one question for the top grill...

last time i try to take it off, and i toke all the screw off from it, and i was trying to get it off, but it didnt come off... i dont know whats holding on the top grill...... do u know wat is it???

to be honest... i did it almost a year ago.. and i dont really remember completely.. but i think i recall that after i took the bolts off, that it still needed a little bit of force.. i think its also held on kinda like the bottom grill, with latches... if you give it some force it should just come off... but i dont wanna tell ya to pull to hard and be responsible for a broken grill :)

give it a try.. if not, im sure someone on the board whose mp3 is not impounded (mine is) would be able to go out to the driveway and take a look at their car and see if they could figure it out

and your very welcome! thanx for saying thanx!

i get it, thanx^^

dont worry, u will not be responsible for it, but paying it 4 me(just kidding:p)

now i am going to try like devil fights angel, dead or alive~

haha.......

i wil tell you later after wat i've do to it~

i tried to take my top grill off two days ago, took off the two black plastic screws on the left and right side, and it was still secured on there some how. I didn't want to break it, and I also didn't really want to get too involved in it, cuz i had to go to work soonish, so im just gonna go back to it another day....

but....are there more screws than just those two plastic ones on the top? i couldnt see any bolts or anything like that...:(

easiest way...

step 1. remove radiator brackets.
step 2. top screws on top grill.
step 3. go from the inside of engine bay(these tabs are well hidden under what the hood release mounts to), use needle nose pliers to squeeze them, and pop them out.
step4. carefully pull up and out, as the bottom of the grill has three "pins", to hold it in.

best of luck.

Dexter, you know what, i've the same problem like u did~
afteri take off the two screw, and i was trying to pull it off, but it was kinda like stock, or hold by somethin else, but cant see wat is it~ sigh....... hope to take it off soon~~

derrick1623,tnank you for share the information~
but it's hard, or kinda misunderstand to just read ur words and do it, it would be better if u have pics.... but thx for that anyway!!!

good news a-spec, i have successfully removed the grill.

it was a b****, to put it lightly! :D

it took me like an hour, but now that i know where all the snaps and such are, it will be easier if i ever have to do it again.

Armed only with my determination to remove the grill and front emblem and derrick1623's info, I set out to conquer. I came, I saw, I swore, I took apart the airbox, I swore again, I conquered. And I took pics. Going back to finish up the job, will post pics soonly. :p

thats cool hope to see the pics... im going to be doing that soon... well maybe... not sure yet but if you have step by step pics that would help.

Dexter, ya know what, i love to hear wat u just say~ ya know, good for ya man, congratulations!!

i will still try by myself, but anyhow~ still like to see ur pics if i failed, haha~~

so please to see ur pics as soon as possible^^

now, i am going to try mine, haha~~ fight!!

Dexter, ya know what......

i really dont know what to say, but only thank you in my mind!!!

gosh, thanx so much, i really, really, appreciate those pics...

i hope someday in the future, when u need any help, i will be able to help you~~

thx, now it's turn for me to do it^^

AcoupDetat, you know what~

i check my P5 out last night...

and for the bottom grille, what i think is you have to take off the top grille first, and then reach inside from the top to botoom

and you will see da thing thats holding bottom grille in there...

however, i am not sure if it's true or not, but u may wana give a try~

also, if any other people know, welcome to share the experience^^
