Dodge SRT-4

Damn,

This means that Mazda will have to step up to the plate. Were in trouble otherwise! Maybe there WILL be a supercharged or turboed Protege after all!!

Mazda has already step up to the plate. They came out with the new mazda 6 that will do 0-60 in the low 5's and Topspeed at 255-260kmh i think that's 155-160mph. I've posted this long time ago. About the Protege Mp3 i'm sure it will compete with the Sentra Se-R spec v in 2003. And i've read that the new 2002's Protege's do 0-60 under 9sec so that mean's around the mid to high 8's. 2.0l DOHC 16-vavle I-4 mpfi 130hp engine. I think they made the car lighter and the horsepower pounds by liter is 20.3 and the 99-01 was 20.8 and the Mp3 is 20.1

Holy goose feathers!...I thought that was a load of BS...0-60 under 6 sec w/ a 148mph topspeed and under 20 g's...WHAT!?!?

I wonder if this is related to the pt cruiser turbo project...hmmm...turbo's and chrysler...whats going on...

This car will easily be made faster (chips, exhaust on a turbo car = easy HP)...is it FWD...the car will be all over the place...limited slip included???

Not only Mazda...EVERYONE...se-r won't touch it....Is it the fastest car under 20 g's? I still don't believe it...is it really true? Mazda wake up...hmm anyone have a 0-60 time on the mini cooper S?

I'd rather drive my MP3 slowly with style than drive that monstrosity quickly! It may be the fastest car under 20g's, but it's probably one of the ugliest too!

"It may be the fastest car under 20g's, but it's probably one of the ugliest too!"

No doubt!

We will see about that car. 5.9 0-60 for a turboed neon with only 200 HP? I have doubts about that. If they ever do release it, I want to see some solid numbers.

"I want to see some solid numbers."

Same here...recently it seems some car companies have been pushing the numbers a bit. Wait just before the car is released, they might claim different numbers. I would to see what happens when the car mags get a few "super" neons to play with...will see the truth (hopefully)...I hope they don't get pre-production units.

I hate to tell you but chrysler has used turbo engines since the early 80's....eagle talon...turbo 2.4l k cars...conquest...even the first body style caravan came with an optional turbo all wheel drive powertrain.

I know...what I meant was the recent overall resurgence of turbo's in use...I was beginning to believe the car manufacturers were in love with superchargers: Benz, Jaguar, Buick, new mini, Nissan, Pontiac etc...turbo's seemed the popular choice in the 80's and mid-early 90's...VW made the turbo popular once again with its 1.8t....wait they also used a supercharger in the corrado...in any case I hope they start offering more turbocharged cars in the market...

"even the first body style caravan came with an optional turbo all wheel drive powertrain." Really...hmmmm interesting

Talon Tsi, Eclipse GSX, and Laser RS-T are the same vehicles. The engine says Mitsubishi 2000. I think the Laser is just a tad faster cause it's 50lbs lighter then the other both.

I'm pretty sure that EVERYONE knows the DSM triplets.
I also mentioned the conquest which is another platform shared amongst mitsubishi and chrysler. Conquest = Starion, 2.4 liter turbocharged RWD.

Yeah most people do know that but from your post it didn't sound like it. You said that chrysler had been using turbo engines. But those weren't their engines. I guess they had to work on them so they at least know about them but it sounded like you didn't know that those were mitsubishi cars.

I am a soon to be ex-neon owner and have been an avid member of the neon "scene" and yes this car is a go. Here is a link to pics of the engine which is a work of art:
http://www.neons.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=949

On its performance, I have no doubt that it will perform according to the stated 0-60 time. I spent about $1000 on aftermarket boltons on my 1st gen SOHC and it has 7.5sec 0-60. The top end is the number I am skeptical about. The physics of the 1st gen Neon(turtlelike) actually prevent it from exceeding ~133mph, though the new body is more aerodynamic...

There's one big problem with the SRT-4...It's a DODGE. Run as fast you can to any other import manufacturer and it will all be ok.

Interestingly, someone mentioned the new MINI and it's supercharger...Here is something you might not know, the MINI uses a Neon motor in it. A joint deal between BMW and Dodge...

Pretty funny...When/if the new MINI ever is released here, go to your local MINI/BMW dealer and harrass the sales guys...

Pop the hood and say, "Isn't that a Neon motor??"

It'll really piss them off, becuase it is...

Probably why the MINI is so darned affordable! The MINI scores some serious style points. I guess you'll be able to get it with all kinds of dfferent color combos including options for british, american or checker flag roof paint. The S model is going to be a sweet little vehicle!

I honestly can't stand that mini. Just look at it, UGLY. The only reason they are going to be popular is because of their history. I think it is hilarious that it is just a neon motor. That will make me laugh every time I see one.
