Do your steering wheel and back seats shake?

So I had that vibration problem with my 07 5. The service department changed everything except the engine and the problem was still there. I had aftermarket rims that they put on and they said it was that. So they put on stock rims and it got worse. Anyways.....car was in the shop for over 2 months they did not want to work with us so i wrote mazda a stink letter and all of a sudden the dealers wanted to help us. So instead of filing a claim they switched it out for a 08 5. Put all my goodies from my other car to the new vehicle. But one problem.......my 08 5 has a vibration in the steering wheel. I refuse to go through this same problem again. This vibration will find itself at a HONDA dealership real soon......

you got your '08 now, and it's vibrating? LOLZ. I guess these cars are just kinda crappy. Too bad because some aspects of the car are amazing. The engine is quiet, smooth, and flexible. The tranny is decent and shifts nicely. The handling is nice. It's great on gas. Roomy and versatile.

In the end, it's hard to achieve perfection in an $18k car.

Well, this sort of the response I got from the Service advisor and tech at the dealer. They said it more indirectly though...

I posted sometime ago about similar issue with cold tires, but as soon as they warm up, not trouble. Regardless, (deadhorse, these are OEM tires, so they do suck...

(werd), adding that it looks very decent for a people mover

It is difficult to put everything into one package at that price so I'll deal with its already common gripes, nowhere else to find something similar (dunno), what, a Rondo? Ewww...

I too have the shake, but once its warmed up it is gone. Same as the squeaky suspension in cold weather, once its warmed up its fine. Reading this forum has saved me alot of headaches at the shop. Since it only happens when cold I have learned to live with it.
I did ask them to update the PCM for the stuttering and they said there was an upgrade and went ahead and did it. (did not want anything to do with the TSB though that Mazda Canada had not issued)

I'm bringing mine to Scarborough Mazda since it's closer to my work.

TJ, have you been there?

Just an update, my MZ5 drives better now. The Service Manager told me that all 4 tires were out of balanced and they did a wheel alignment for all 4 tires as well. So I replied back to the Service Manager, what happen to the over priced ($1,390 plus 13% tax) PDI I paid for. He just smiled at he, since I did not pruchased the vehicle in their dealership.

Yes i got the car but just really dissapointed. I love this car and I had many mazda's. This would be our 3rd mazda 5 and our first one ran so good and had no problems. Oh!!!!and it is great on gas. I have another car and it sucks gas so its good to have one thats not so thirsty.....

$18k car? OMG!!! Im from hawaii so the prices here sucks. My 5 was about $26k.....

I've got an idea. Try putting a 50 lb sack of something on the floor between the seats and see if the shake stops. Perhaps the floor has a natural harmonic at those speeds?

I say im going down this road too, just had my tires balanced and vibration is still there....it actually comes and goes......f$%kin pissin me off tho....

I just hope new tires fix the problem.

I hate having stuff that dont work properly!

Try jacking the air pressure to 38 psi. I'm not experiencing the premature wear on the inside of the tires and I get good mileage too. I bought my5 about sept. last year and I changed to winter tire on Nov. and both orig and new ADR were balanced by a real tire shop.... I never saw any premature wear or vibration on both sets of wheels.

My 08 5 Sport had the same vibration. It was most obvious at 45 and again at 65. Had the dealer check it out at the 5,000 mile service and they balanced them to no avail. Called my local dealer's service manager last week and had him drive it. After several test drives and swapping of wheels and tires from a new 5 on the lot, he determined that the tires needed replacement and put a new set on under warranty.

Picked the 5 up last night and it is MUCH better. I still feel a minor vibration in the wheel but I'm overly sensitive to these things so it probably is fine.

I was impressed that the dealer was so responsive and willing to tackle this without me having to bring it back over and over and over....

wow. that's pretty good to hear!

Huh?

jeebusm3 rocks, he can reply to a post before is actually posted, LOL

I guess there was a server backup put in place at some point this morning, that is why the last 2 posts were swapped. Seen it a couple of times...

Anyway, on topic, glad to see Mazda dealers doing something like that from time to time....

(lol) me too!

Good for you GABadger.

Our dealer/service center SUCKS.

They acknowledged the shake the last time we brought it in and stated that WE had to buy new tires (on a 3000 mile car) to try to fix it.

I was not satisfied with that answer, so I had my wife bring it in again.
Now they claim they cant replicate the problem and called her to pick it back up.
She does not want to fight with them.
Looks like I will have to take time off from work and take someone out for another drive.

Did I mention that our dealer/service center SUCKS!

New tires on my 5

Mazda Vibration Issues

I have a Tribute and had nothing but problems right from the purchase with Vibration. I had to pay for the first balance, then they did 3 alignments, 2 balances then determined the Continental Tires were all defective and replaced them with new. The problem with the vibration was resolved. The vibration was so bad, the front rotors and pads had to be replaced as they were damaged according to the dealer.

As far as Gyro, I took mine there for this ordeal, but now being serviced at Scarboro Mazda and the service is 500% better at Scarboro.

MY wife's new 5 (4 days old)had a flat this morning (Screw in the tire). When I took it to get it fixed they asked me who balanced the tire. They said it was way out of balance. I wonder how the other three are? However we haven't noticed any vibration yet.

Bob
