Do you regret getting the Mp5 instead of the Mazda 3?

Question says it all, you regret getting the Mp5 instead of the 3? Now that i look at the Mazda 3, i'm feeling a small amount of regret.

But that regret doesn't isn't turning into selth-loathing because I got my car for $17,329 total (tax+license+reg). Cheaper price.

I can imagine the Mazda 3 to be at least $19,000 ~ $21,000?

It's not that I regret it. It's just the fact when a new model comes out to replace a current model, the value of the car drops significantly. I actaully didn't know the 3 was coming out when I bought my P5 this past April. If I would have known, I would have bought something else. Same thing happened when I bought my 2001 A4. The new body style came out and the value of my car went to s***.

Correcto Yup, I miss it. One of the big reasons why I bought the P5 was because of all the rebates and the fact that they were selling the car for waaaaaaaaaay under invoice already. It actually covered my negative equity on the Audi and then some. Now I'm in the hole again with the Mazda 3 coming out.

It's just a car (I mean, yeah for some it's their life) - there should more *important* things in life to regret about....cars shouldn't be one of them.....

I think those people who got pinto's whove blown up regreted getting them..

And the focus, with a crap load of SAFETY recalls, and all the neon owners, cause it just never stops breaking...

This list can go on, but then, that is why people buy the mazda, cause it works well..

The p5 has only a 2 year run, but is easily part interchangable with the regular protege (especially the important stuff like the mechanics..)

The Mazda3 is going to be a first year run car next year, and first year runs of a car are never really good to get till they get all the bugs out of it..

That usually takes 6 months to a year to get them out..

I personally prefer the p5's styling, looks more agresive to me, and the back on the 3 is too bubbly...

Personally, I HATE cars that are too round. I chose the P5 because it has nice edges & lines. No regret at all. If I were looking now, I'd still go with a new P5.

If the P5 came out in a turbo, then I'd be peeved!

since the focus, small volvo will all be built off the same platform and use the same engines as the upcoming 3, i'm glad the pr5 wasn't touched too much by ford (the some 500 dead from explorers and pintos)...don't want me or my family to be a statistic

No other car looks like the P5. The only thing I can think of that remotely resembles our car is the IS300 and that's not a bad car to be compared with. The 3 takes too many styling cues from the 6 with Mazda trying to move everything over to that motif, so I like the uniqueness of the look (even though I think the 3 is nice looking).

Besides, I'd rather take a 3rd year production of a reliable car (I gots me a 2003) than a first year production of something that's going to be using a shared platform as Ford. I would just rather be told that my car needs a genuine Mazda part than a Ford part.

I love my car. You should too.

i wubs me 5. i wouldnt want a 3 except for the 2.3 engine. I dislike the trend towards bigger cars. get smaller dammit. all compact cars today are bigger than their full sized counterparts 10-20 years ago.


i dont mind the styling on the 3, but i will wait till i see it in person to pass a final judgement. But like other threads here have pointed out, the similarities to the matrix/ vibe are disheartening, since the 3 is mazdas smallest car in the US. bring the demio over dammit.

I SWEAR I saw a black mazda3 yesterday. It looked good!

I don't love my p5 that much, I would trade it in for anything better.. like a bimmer

Drive with pride.....the Protege5 (cuz the Mazda 3 is ugly)

the 3 Looks too much like a Nissan Mirado (or what ever its called)
(The black one that drives through the city with all the jungle sounds)

Also resembles the Vibe & Matrix. If I wanted one of those I would have gotten one of those.

The only other Mazda's I wish I had would be the RX-8 or the MSP.


Overall our MP5's are better looking than any Honda hatchback and out handle them in the mountains.

I am glad I got the MP5 and love my laser blue.
