Do P5's eat plug wires?

I got my P5 about a month ago (great car BTW) and have been doing some maintenance on it to get it up to date since it's almost at 40k. I put in some new NGK's and when I took the old ones out noticed right away that they must have been the original plugs by how burnt they were......And then I got to thinking about changing the plug wires. Since I have owned two Miatas, I know how it is to go trough plug wires. Are Proteges the same way?

I'm at over 100,000 km and still on my original plug wires. No issues.

I did have some 8mm race wires (can't remember the brand but $$$) for about 2000 km.

I doubt they were the original plugs. The Proteges (and any car with a wasted spark ignition system) eat through plugs at twice the rate of a "normal" car. Wear and tear on the plug wires is also increased, though for me it's usually the boots on the plugs that go bad before anything else (from repeated removal and reinstallation on my part :p

That, and you have a turbo on the engine. Turbos increase heat. Heat is hard on plugs and wires--though at least ours don't snake through the exhaust manifold like those on many non-DOHC engines.

I have 43,000 on my P5, no issues with the wires. Had the plugs done around 35,000 just cause it was time. No change in performance.

Since I live in Florida, heat is an issue. I suppose I'll worry about it if it starts running funny. So far the car is running great, no complaints. All I need is a roof rack and I'll be golden.

I had the car for 48,500 miles without the turbo though..

35,000 miles on copper plugs with wasted spark is 70,000 miles on copper plugs on a normal car (boom08)

Your gas mileage didn't increase or anything?

I never let my plugs get worn down at all.. they're so cheap! Correcting a typo in my above post, it's the boots that have failed on two sets of spark plug wires (non-oem because I needed them in a bind) for me... it's all so cheap that I feel like replacing it before it is really worn down :p

What I'm getting out of this is if the spark plug wires are changed, the engine will eat through the new wires quicker than the stocks? Or am I just reading this completely wrong? I was thinking of getting NGK wires and NGK Iridium spark plugs. Any yay's or nays for this?

You'll be happy with them. How many miles on your stock wires? You might not need new ones yet.

I have NGK wires and plugs right now, it's great.

Well not sure if they have been changed or not but right now the car has about 54200 miles on it.

Why are you planning on replacing them? I just did my plugs at 60K miles and the wires look great and the old plugs looked pretty good too. I just stayed w/ regular NGK plugs.

I went ahead and ordered some NGK wires, only 30 bucks so why not. Can't hurt that's for sure.
