Do I need VCTS?

Hey guys, got the P2004 code the other day. Read the code using my AP, the AP even showed that "APV stuck open". After doing some research I found out it's really referring to the "Variable tumble control system" which basically deals with valves in the intake manifold that open and close based on what speed you're going. Something to do with rerouting exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber. Ok so my question, mine is stuck open. Is that bad? I've read threads on the "other" forum where guys have actually REMOVED the whole system so that they're always open. Can I drive around with this problem or am I doomed to bring it to the dealer? Really don't want to bring it back to stock, ugh.

I have removed the vcts from my car. I had the stock intake mani PnPed at the same time. Its early,so I can't remeber the code I get from it. But it doesn't say what your saying when I checked it. It says "IMRC" stuck closed. So you'll be just replacing one code with another. There is a trick you can do with a relay to trick the ecu into thinking its still there once removed. Its posted on SUF in the ms3 section.

What state do you live in? Once you take it out the car will take longer to warm up on a cold start and especially longer in winter. Because the air doesn't tumble in, due to the flappers being removed. Under WOT it does free up some room for air travel. If I was in a northern state I probably wouldn't consider this, unless you don't use the car in winter. But I'm happy with the overall results and look of it though. It cleans up the bay some by removing the flapper...

Good luck :)
