Coming out of hibernation ....

Finally got to drive my car in Fort Myers after 11 months of inactivity (trying to get ready for Dixie), rusty rusty... and my car was handicaped wheel/tire wise. Power wise the car felt amazing. I had 196-50-15 R1R's on the front on 15x6.5 Rota Slipstreams and the rear some old 205-50-15 RE-11's on factory wheels. Overdrove the car, I really have to be more carefull driving with R1R's than RS3's (there is only one Andy Hollis), but at 50 degrees there was not chance to use RS3's if I had them...

My competition was my friend from Minnesota on his Mini fully prepped on Dunlops Direzza's II, he has been Autocrossing around the country for a while, and also a great driver. I was also comparing my car to a HS-R Mini drove by two great local drivers.

The STF Mini got me by a hair but the interesting part is that one of the drivers of the HS-R Mini drove my car and beat me and the STF Mini in my own car by a whole second !!! So the conclusion is the Mazda 2 still the car to have, just need a good driver ;)

I miss Fort Myers....that airstrip is such a great location. Are they still setting up mile-long courses? I remember getting plenty of exercise when I was working out on course.

edit: Nevermind...its pretty apparent looking at the raw times.

Despite your excuses, I'd say you did pretty well in pax. I'm glad to see Jason Ruggles is doing so well these days. I bumped into him and Disimo at a prosolo/tour event here in ATL not long ago. I was never able to travel that far for autocross...but then again I was never nearly as fast either.

Those were not excuses, just trying to be specific. I was an awesome course designed by David Marcus, Jason is amazingg these days.

I know, excuse my sarcasm. You ought to have a good shot at nat's this year with that pesky Hollis guy out of the picture.

I know, well I got a hold of the last 15x7.5 UL wheels available in the country until April, thanks to my new sponsor/wife... :) .

One more chance to practice this weekend with the wheels and suspension upgrade.

I we weren't trying so hard to save up for a house I would join you with my 2.

Just to let ya know Chris Hill and Anthony Lodise are two guys who I regularly autocross with. They are good guys. This weekend Chris is coming to our autocross with the Clemson Sports Car Club, but I am driving a Sonic for it not the 2 this time.

Have fun and do well so I can give them a hard time about it afterwards.

Good guys or good drivers ? ;) ... What is your name so I can introduce myself.

They are good guys. The car they are driving is Chris's and he is pretty quick because he has been autocrossing it for a while, but I still think the 2 can take it because of the weight difference. I think he is new to STF from HS as well. He was having trouble getting used to how well his car would rotate off throttle at our last autocross. Anthony now has a MS3 as his DD and he is more used to RWD cars. He is quick, but I don't think has to much seat time to really get the most out of Chris's car.

Andres,
My car's the same Mazda3 you raced last year at Dixie. This year I've added a CAI, CBE w/ highflow, reflash, stiffer front springs, and all important camber plates. ClemsonSCC event this weekend went as well as it could have. I got 5 cold and 5 warm weather runs. I've dialed out the ridiculous lift oversteer from a month ago that Zach mentioned. With minor pressure adjustments I can get it driving pretty. Zach drove my car this weekend so he can give you a spy report on the car. Tony has never driven my car, his role will be keeping my tires warm. He will likely get most of the seat time in practice.
Good to see you made it back to race. Looking forward to it.

I guess Erv's the only one missing from last year. Wonder where he is, haven't heard from him in a while?

Yea, if anything Chris I would say that your car could use some more rotation, but it might have been on cold tires when I drove it as well. Wish I could be there in my 2 but the house comes first. Have a good time you guys.

Do you guys ever come down to the ATL events? Awhile back there were a couple guys from clemson that came down regularly to keep me on my toes when I was in ESP. They said the drive wasn't too bad to Turner Field.

I went to Turner in October 2011, but didn't really like it (the lot or the course). I came down twice to AMS in 2012...Evo Shootout in May and regular meet in September (love AMS). I don't know of anyone who goes down regularly.
